Chalmers Johnson's Blowback is a must read for DUers.

Its premise is that the interventions of the US in many countries of the world ,e.g. Iran,Chile, Guatemala, Argentina,Nicaragua,Dominican Republic, Panama and others will blowback to the US mainland with corrupted elections,disnformation campaigns, character assassinations by paid "journalists" and real assassinations of unwanted political adversaries and so on. Realizing that Chalmers Johnson wrote Blowback nearly a decade ago, his book is awfully current.I have yet to read his newest work SORROWS OF EMPIRE but Blowback has increased my curiosity.I am going to buy his book today.

2. concentrates on asia, but the thesis is valid

his experience has been in asia so he concentrates on taiwan, okinawa, korea, but this is exactly what we're reaping & sowing in the middle east today.

in the modern military state, short term gain outweighs long term strategy everytime. and democracy & freedom are meaningless code words. freedom for our capital, the patina of democracy to assuage our guilt.

get out of iraq
cut israel loose
stop growth economics
energy independence
