Anyone Have Elderly Parents Trying To Deal With The Prescription
Drug Benefit. My 84 year old mom is completely confused and cowed by it, and she still possesses her mental faculties.

1. That was by design.
Confuse them. Just get them to sign up early, because they are locked in without any ability to switch cards if they make a mistake. This program was the biggest Valentine to Big Pharma ever. Trouble for the whole program now, though. Seniors are staying away in droves, and they may not even reach enough enrollment to sustain the program.

Score another one for BushCo!

2. Thankfully my parents are young enough that theyhaven't reached this yet.
I am hopeful that by the time they do, we will have real healthcare for our seniors.

3. No, but I heard Bill Shipp on the "Ga. Gang" say program is no good.
Shipp is Republican a columnist for the Atlanta Journal and a panelist on the Sunday show, the Georgia Gang. He's the only member old enough to comment, so they asked him which new card he signed up for. He said NONE! He explained that he went to his local pharmacy and asked the drugist which one of these things he should get. The drugist said none of them are any good, and what a lot of people don't know is that if you have any drug coverage now at all, signing up for the card would make it invalid.

I'm 61, so I'm not personally affected yet, but his comment sure opened my eyes. It is another reason they passed this mess at 4AM!

4. my mother
hell, i'm an elderly parent on midications myself, but my mother has to pay 300 a month for 30 pills. she cheats by going online and ordering it from canada for half the price. bushkkko is trying to stop poor folks from cheating america in this way.

what a fucked up system. that shit should be FREE for the poor.

5. It's just a big Ponzi Scheme for the drug companies
I tried to figure it out for my 91 year old mom. It is simply impossible to make a "good" decision on the website. They can change pricing on any plan you choose at any time anyway.

The whole thing is a sick joke. It's only worth discussing from the standpoint of the primeval mendacity, and utter amorality of the republicans and the dems who voted for this shell game.

6. Canada
Grans uses an RX in Canada. Yes, you lose the Medicare payment, but in the long run it's still cheaper for her.
P.S. DO NOT USE MEXICO as a mail order RX. Yes I know I have family there BUT the controls on tampered and faked meds are not up to snuff like the Canadians. If you go in person, check out the boxes and you really know your meds, maybe OK.
