what, exactly, did Bush say/do regarding Homeland Security before 911?
Gary Hart repeated the obvious statement today that Bush not only spoke out against the establishment of a Homeland Security Agency in early 2000, he INSTRUCTED the pugs in congress to STOP work on the bill that was in the hopper

since the war on Bush's acronym for terror is their ONLY weapon against Kerry, WHY isn't his campaign making that opposition to the HSA a centerpiece of THEIR campaign, making it clear how completely asleep at the wheel the junta was before the fact.

Indeed, didn't they continue to fight against the creation of HSA even AFTER 9/11, only really coming out in favor of it when they realized they could use it as a means to destroy federal employee unionism, while at the same time paint the dems, who were the ones in favor of it all along, as being unpatriotic, putting the special interests of a very small group of greedy comsymps ahead of national security?

Point is, seems like this could be a good campaign issue

yes or no?

1. YES!

There's more than a few of these items Kerry's campaign could be using to shoot some holes in Bush's re-election plans.

AND

Kerry could be 30 points ahead of Bush if he would just use them. His base is screaming for him to bitch-slap Bush. It would have a great impact on those dissatisfied with Bush but are still leaning to him.

On Edit.

At least Bush has the balls to do whatever he wants. Kerry needs to grow a pair and stand up to the little prick.

2. The Hart-Rudman report detailed the establisment
of a Department of Homeland Security. What Idiot did about it was shelve the report, cancel the investigation into the Cole bombing (which had already pointed toward bin Laden), call off the FBI investigations of suspected bin Laden agents in the US, and generally stuff his head up his ass while he contemplated vicarious glory on the field of battle in Iraq.

Bush has to go. The country won't survive another 4 years of this shit.

3. Yes and YES to both
isn't it inFURiating to have both Bush and Cheney stand up there and LIE, making the most supercilious comments about Kerry, then watch the media lovingly play the most galling of the comments, while playing mostly wonky, or defensive clips from Kerry?

is it as bad as it was for Gore?

how difficult is it to gauge something like that?

one thing FOR SURE: Kerry has got to start going over the heads of the talking heads pretty soon, perhaps before the Munich convention, or else he's gonna get completely GORED.
