"This country has got to be careful about destroying life to save life"
That's what George just said on Larry King.

Yes, George, you would know. What an ironic jackass.

4. In case your "what" signifies your confusion with my thread..
..Bush was talking about stem-cell research and why he's against it.

He wants America to engage in a debate about why it'd be wrong to destroy life in order to save it.

Yet that's exactly what his foreign policy calls for. Killing tens of thousands of Iraqi's in order to "free" them, etc.

12. Bush plans to introduce a "surrogate mom" tax break next term
So that all of these embryos may be implanted and given a chance to live.

Kidding of course, but I wouldn't put it past him. :eyes:

5. Did you hear Laura?
Re her recent speech against stem cell research, Larry asks her, "Is it
that you're morally opposed to it?" Her answer? "No, I'm not opposed to it?" What a cheneying idiot.

HEADLINE: Laura Bush reverses position on stem cell research.

14. I'm sure that, to BushCo, Iraqis don't qualify as "life" . . .
they're nonentities to these people . . . the notion that Iraqis are part of the human family -- their own brothers and sisters, if you will -- is completely foreign to them . . .

8. Did he suddenly become a vegan?
I mean, he eats meat, doesn't he? Or is a single stem cell assumed to be equal to a human life?

What about the cells I lose off my body day-to-day? Are they equal to 'people' too? Should I mourn the hair follicles occasionally torn from their roots by my hair brush?

Do individual human cells have some sort of 'magic' that other cells do not?

9. Oh I totally agree with George
I think we should invest even more money into new and improved weapons that have no fucking use except to kill human beings. Stem cell research? Pah. Bunch of mad abortionists trying to clone human beings which is a slippery slope as we all know.

17. Destroying life to save a *wallet*...
...is good, morally sound policy. At least if the wallet in question is monogrammed 'GWB'.

18. But isn't that
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 07:06 AM by Jawja
exactly what he has done in Iraq? Killed thousands of innocent people, including children, in order to "liberate" them?

Does that Jackass not see the ABSOLUTE inconsistency in his policies??

When you supposedly "liberate" someone, aren't you in affect, saving a life? His logic then, makes no sense. It's okay to kill and injure children in Iraq with bombs and uranium in order to "save lives"; but he's against using unused embyros to provide cells that might also "save lives?"

HUH?????

The ignorance of this man is staggering.
