Question about gay marriage
When San Francisco was granting licenses to gay couples did the divorce rate go up in the Bay Area. I mean, according to the supporters of the Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage, they are trying to save the institution of marriage.
So, by their reasoning, every gay marriage should have spiked the divorce rate up, shouldn't it?

1. That's silly.
Cause & effect do not have to occur within days. I think they were talking about over a generation or two. Whether they were right or not, who knows??

3. the weird part is this bit of irrationality:
1. They think being gay is a choice, even we who are can tell them it is not.

2. They believe from personal experience that being heterosexual is how you are born, and not a choice.

3. They think that heterosexuals are going to choose to be gay and not marry the opposite sex if same-sex civil marriage is accepted.

Talk about cognitive dissonance - can it get any dumber?

4. Yeah, it can get dumber.
After all, we're talking about the party that declared gay marriage the real battle for homeland security. I don't put anything past them.

7. The big reason
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 08:58 AM by Nimrod
The creeps in charge know homosexuality is still a hot button issue. By pretending this is important they can divert attention from the genuinely important matters. The idea is to keep us fighting with each other so they can keep going to the bank.

I've stated it before, but it's also a method of getting away with nasty crap that reasonable people are opposed to. You don't need to convince someone this is important, you just have to convince him that everyone ELSE thinks this is important.

I hate to have to say it, but Americans are stupid as hell to allow these diversionary tactics to work. And they ARE working, they have for a long time. We should be ashamed of ourselves as a nation.
