His new book,
Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney's New World Order, is just out from W.W. Norton. This Monday is the official publication date.
The freepers have discovered it and are busily posting scurrilous reveiews of a book they obviously have not read. Mark reports that Amazon has been helpful in deleting the worst of the irrational rants.

While numerous books have been written criticizing the policies and practices of the George W. Bush administration, few have been as foreboding about the meaning of those policies and practices as Mark Crispin Miller's Cruel and Unusual. In Bush and company, Miller sees a regime comparable to the most ruthless authoritarian dictatorships of the modern era and warns that Americans, skillfully duped by a corrupt government and a complicit mass media, are blithely accepting the curtailing of their liberties and the eradication of their democracy....

Rantings of a paranoid with an agenda.........., August 13, 2004

conveniently timed before elections. The radical left of the Democratic party will stop at nothing to regain power for the Democratic party. But, it won't be the Democratic party of the past. This book and it's blasphemous insults, insinuations, and outright lies and paranoid accusations, is a great example of how low the new Democratic left will stoop to win the 2004 election. There is little, if any truth in this work of propaganda and near-sedition of giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
Had these leftist Democrats been in power in 1941 we may well have lost WWII. In his book, "American Soldier", General Tommy Franks says in his testimony before the 9/11 Commission, "....terrorists have been killing Americans for more than two decades." "America is not responsible for terrorism....not George W. Bush, not Bill Clinton. Terrorists are responsible for terrorism". "To a terrorist, national weakness--the tendency to cut and run--looks exactly like 'national weakness.' "The lessons terrorists took away from these earlier attacks on America was simple: if you kill Americans, they will quit." Not that I consider Mark Crispin Miller much of an American, but he is an example of our national weakness, and cowardice on the part of some. I would strongly advise anyone who would take Mr. Crispin and his vile accusations seriously to at least read the epilogue in Tommy Franks book, "American Soldier". It is heroes like General Frank that keep open the doors of open dissent for those like Mr. Miller who would abuse it. Were there any truth to Miller's accusations, he would have not had the courage to write this book. I, for one, will be very, very glad when this election is over. I just dread the thought of so many people believing this jerk that I will have to put up with a "President" who is as big a liar as Mark Crispin Miller.
