2. I just signed on and posted
I like to take a more balanced than adversarial stance where I can... It gets even narrow minds to think sometimes. I also hope 'zlot' will take the time to issue a thoughtful response proving that he does have some grasp for facts. I kind of doubt it though. I rather expect more accusatory behavoir... should be interesting.

I'm with ya.

3. This is a repug newspaper forum
There are a lot of people around here who are big on bitching and talking, NONE OF THEM STEP UP TO FIX ANYTHING. Trust me on that one. It seems like they are all just a bunch of blowhards.

4. Clarify....
all blowhards on Lima or DU?
I did notice Lima's a very Repug page.
I hope to post there long enough to MAYBE get one or two of them to think. I have techniques for getting narrow minds more open... it's painstaking though.
Not that it matters, what's important is we keep some ideas afloat long enough that they take hold and become action, and take actions that become effective changes.

I'm a REAL republican who is actively trying to get this Moron out of the White House through whatever modest means my time will allow.
I plan on posting a few Ideas I have had which I hope other DU'er will act on and spread.

5. in Lima's forum
You should have been around this area when the Iraq war started. Non-stop shilling, clear channel blasting the so-called patriotic country music, letters to the editor talking about how bad Iraq was. Pretty much everything this neocon movement is known for doing this area was doing. It was frustrating.

10. Be sure to keep a copy...
You may need to use snippets of your response in other forums down the road. It'll save some time if you don't have to rewrite it.

The guy even gets the most basic facts wrong. Clinton didn't do anything after the Cole bombing (it was in October of 2000 and they didn't confirm it was Al Qaeda until he was on his way out). And you can compare what Clinton did to try to get Al Qaeda in his last four years (triple counterterrorism funding, attacking training camps, covert operations, diplomatic trips to Pakistan in 2000 despite concerns for his safety, etc.) to what Bush did in his first eight months (vacation, ignore, vacation some more). Pretty much the entire Bush administration dropped the ball in one way or another:

Bush - Did nothing. Received an August 6 PDB called "Bin Laden Determined To Strike Within U.S." and didn''t discuss it once with anyone on his staff between August 6 and September 11.
Cheney - Was in charge of a counterterrorism task force that never met once. It was only created in the first place so that they wouldn't have to take any advice from the evil Clinton administration.
Rice - Didn't think it was her job to pay attention to the intelligence agencies and never took any action despite repeated breifings from Richard Clarke.
Ashcroft - Specifically told Richard Clarke point blank, "I don't want to hear any more about Al Qaeda".
Wolfowitz - Said that he thought Al Qaeda wasn't a threat and probably still thinks that Iraq was behind 9/11.
Rumsfeld - Didn't show up at the command center on 9/11 until over two hours after the first plane had hit the WTC. Nobody knew where he was.

12. I already got a response from the writer
Gosh, don't I feel special!

Not only does he hold a master's, he has raised multiple "throwaway children," seen at least 80 countries, applied to be a social services worker, and in his spare time, he's a former Special Forces soldier. Did you know that John Kerry injured himself to get a Purple Heart? Also, did you know that John Kerry nominated himself for a Silver Star?*

My BS meter is redlining. Let's just say that we know someone else who told us a long time ago that those who brag about being in the Special Forces most likely weren't. I'm also wondering where ZLOTNIK compiled such an extensive resume while raising those dozen "throwaway kids".

8. Lima and its media are classic cases of freepers
who think Bill Clinton is responsible for everything bad that happens. Zlotnik was quick to blame Clinton for 9/11. OK, then I guess the first WTR attack in 1993 was former president HW Bush's fault. After all, that attack occurred only 38 days into Clinton's first term of office.

Clear Channel owns nearly all of the broadcast media in that city. WIMA-radio does have a local talk show host that had not been afraid of slamming Bush and the conservative agenda on this country, but lately, he's been acting squirrelly and sarcastically saying that callers are only allowed to say good things about Bush. He said that this Tuesday, he's going to make a major announcement at 5:00 p.m. He's been hinting that he may not be working there anymore.

The newspaper is so far to the right they make the John Birch Society look like a bunch of liberals. Their publisher, Freedom Newspapers, is based in ultra-conservative Orange County, California, and they subscribe to everything the Cato Institute says.

The real kicker to this whole scenario is that this area has been run entirely--local, state and federal by Republicans for years. Lima has been losing jobs like crazy. The latest blow was the recent closing of its state prison by Republican governor Bob Taft. Do you think the media and the ignorant sheep that read and listen to them can make the connection? Hell, no.

During Clinton's presidency, the editorials published by their staff could never mention Clinton without attaching the phrase "our national embarrassment." If Clinton's an embarrassment, what does that make Bush?

11. I take it your from this area too?
If so I feel better now, I am not entirely alone here. This area hasn't been as good as it could be ever since I remember. My uncle lost his job out at the prison too. BOB TAFT, and especially MIKE OXLEY who loves France so much he lives there and misses pretty much every vote the house has ever had. They both are not well liked by everyone I encounter.

14. I've met with Mike Oxley several times.
I can honestly say that I have never met a more pompous, ignorant public official in my life. His Washington congressional staff is not much better. The frustrating part is that his district is so Republican that he can literally rape and pillage his constituents' families and they'll continue to vote for him because of his party.

I wish his opponent, Ben Konop (sp?) the best of luck. I hope his personal outreaching in his campaign wakes up enough constituents to get Oxley out. The Fourth District of Ohio deserves better. Oxley's never in the District, except for photo ops, or if he's addressing some group dinner or lunch in which you have to pay to see him.

What kind of public official is that?

15. Speaking of Konop
I got to meet his grassroots campaign manager by sheer luck at work. I saw a guy with a konop for congress shirt on and I asked him before ringing him up if he was a konop volunteer. He said "matter of fact, I am his campaign manager." I was shocked and excited at the same time. I have been trying to volunteer for them since he annoucned, and I haven't gotten a response. Seems that they need a computer guy and I offered my services. He took my name quickly along with my phone number and said to expect a call in a few days or to stop by the headquarters. He was going to tell ben about it.

I was skittish for the rest of the day.

13. Oh please
But it really got bad when an AMERICAN Ranger was dragged naked through the streets of Mogladusa(sp) and Clinton's response was to run--and withdraw our troops--when a show of strength was the answer.

Why should I take anything he says seriously if he doesn't know its Mogadishu? "That thurr African country" would have been more worthwhile.

And someone please mention that Reagan REMOVED troops from Lebanon after the Marine barracks bombing in 1983? Did THAT encourage the terrorists?!
