Just came back from Dean Rally here in Milwaukee - WOW!
Okay, those of you who said how Howard Dean is so much more powerful in person, YOU WERE CORRECT!

He was amazing, and the crowd, estimated at 800, were pumped and screaming and yelling and waving signs. and donating money too! very mixed crowd, a nice cross-section of Milwaukee.

Quick recap, before I fall asleep, sorry I don't remember names:

1st speaker, local Dean organizer, young and fired up.
2nd speaker, Wisconsin State senator and party leader. Rocking speech and fired up.
3rd speaker, woman from Madison, organized Dean for America group. Nice coments about (s)election 2000 and, again, fired up.

The Gov. Dean came in, music cranking, signs waving, cheers, clapping, yelling, and Dean pumnping his fists and double thumbs up.

(My friend and I brought our 5 year old sons with, and we both donated to Dean and got them each a Dean T-shirt and gave them a Dean sign, and we were front row just off the center, and the press were filming the 2 of them yelling "Go Dean" and waving their signs and pumping their little fists. I was SO proud of my boy when he said "Dad, he's a *real* President.")

Dean Started by saying how we we're awake in Milwaukee while Bush* was asleep in Crawford, and we want to give him 4 more years to do just that. Nailed the Shrub on the economy, the war in Iraq, education, world views of the USA and the tax cut for the rich. Talked quite a bit on Health care, much to my liking. Gave the Truman quote about the truth and repugs thinking it's Hell. Nailed Delay once too, nailed Cheney, Ashcoft a few times.

He Talked for about 45 minutes, I think, then worked the crowd.

It was amazing.

I feel like there's hope again, and dammit, I want my country back!

4. Dean does give us hope back
Glad to hear you saw it first hand RetroLounge. That's why those of us supporting him know he can win. Once he gets the nomination and he gets full time coverage, he can motivate the people to get to the polls.

Here's the thing that did it for me. I've been angry since the election coup of 2000 and tired of having our D.C. Democrats turn out to be so spineless. I was almost ashamed of being a Democrat but I knew something was seriously wrong. Those of us here in DU had each other for support and we knew what was wrong, but think of the millions of other people that only see the crap TV and media coverage, they feel totally isolated. We all want to believe that we can make that difference once again. We beat bu$h by over 5000,000 votes in 2000. We weren't wrong in 2000 and we're not wrong now. We got cheated out of that election and the country has gone to hell. We need to take our country back and Dean is willing to stand up for us. So I'm willing to stand up for him. We have the power to take our country back!

Sonia
