How will 9-11 anniversary affect the nation this year?

Once again, as the summer political doldrums begin to move toward autumn re-engagement, will 9-11 shift the climate again?

Naturally there will be some commemorations and soul-searching. That's inevitable and healthy if it is kept in perspective.

But will it, or will we be subjected to another round of alerts, endless memorials, new fanning of the flames of fear and ultra-nationalistic fervor? Will, as anotehr thread noted, a "discovery" of WMD's in Iraq be conveniently timed to dovetail with the anniversary?

Or has the phrase "time heals all wounds" begin to take hold? Will the media and the political opportunists decide that they've hit us over the head with that one too many times?

Just curious what you all think.

the public is getting smarter and has begun asking questions.

I'm waiting for the protests to start up, maybe there might be some on this 9/11 anniversery.
