If we raise taxes on the rich, they wont pay. - Bush
How does Bush get away with campaigning on a platform of extortion?

This is amazing. The subtext is that the rich put him in office for a tax cut, and if they dont get to keep thier tax cut, thats it, they will stop paying thier taxes.

Is this not completely blatent class warfare?

How can America put up with this?

1. These comments are bizarre....
We can't tax the rich....they won't pay them anyway? First its Trial Lawyers, now its the "Accountants" fault....

Boy, they must really think Americans are stoo-pedd....:eyes:

2. Unbelievable isn't it?
Fuurthermore, he is undermining the tax system. The "non-rich" have every reason to also avoid taxes now. Our voluntary tax system is largely based on the honor system, that it is immoral to evade your taxes and your duty as a citizen to pay taxes. If he continues to destroy the tax system, who will pay for his wars and his precious corporate welfare? A-hole.

6. LDRSHIP
He doesnt understand values. In the military, they are spelled, LDRSHIP.

Loyalty(attacking honorable servicemembers and slandering them, not loyal)
Duty (He didnt fulfill his Natl Guard obligations)
Respect(he doesnt respect anyone but the rich)
Selfless Service(He has never served anyone but himself)
Honor(see loyalty, and duty)
Integrity(hmmmm....where are those WMDs, again?)
Personal Courage( Got out of going to actual combat by hiding in Alabama....and then didnt even go to drill)

Americas Servicemen and women know better. We will pick a new CIC in november who actually fought in a war.....

3. I think what's more amazing if not as amazing is when he
tells the crowd of yahoos that it's THEIR taxes that kerry wants to raise.

"Hot dayum Merla! he done wanna raise our taxes?? sheeit ah didn't know we's rich!"

Note to Joe American: You're NOT rich. When you make 6 figure incomes then MAYBE the Republicans will offer you a spot at their table.

If I ever get to the point of making that kind of income I'd still wipe my ass with that invitation.

4. Maybe the biggest republican lie of them all.
I dont think any progressive taxation system ever proposed has ever suggested raising taxes on the working class. Yet somehow they have convinced alot of working class people that the democrats want to raise thier taxes.

8. 6 figures? I wish...
Even if you make six figures you don't get to cash in on the tax breaks. My dad makes 6 figures (and we will too, someday, when Mr. Poliguru finally finishes med residency), but we still get nailed. Personally, I don't mind too much paying my share of the taxes once I make that much, because I figure other peoples' taxes helped me when I was a single mom getting through college.

Bush's tax philosophy should be extrapolated for him. Consider:

1. No one follows the speed limit, so we need to get rid of it.
2. Lots of people smoke pot, so it should be allowed.
3. Lots of kids drop out of school or skip school so much it's basically the same thing, so let's stop making school mandatory.

Etc. - somehow I don't think those will play well in his platform.

5. Why did we have a budget deficit after Bush's tax cuts for the
rich if they don't pay anyway?
