Hart Considers Senate Race in Colorado
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

DENVER (AP) -- Gary Hart, who decided against joining the Democratic presidential race this year, is being asked by national and Colorado Democratic leaders to make a 2004 Senate run against GOP incumbent Ben Nighthorse Campbell.

``I've had several conversations with him about it,'' said Chris Gates, chairman of the Colorado Democratic Party. ``A lot of us in Colorado and Washington would love to see Gary take this race on. He's listening.''

Details about talks between Hart and the Democrats were first reported by The Denver Post on its Web site Saturday.

A telephone message left at Hart's office Saturday was not returned.

1. Campbell's response?
It'll be about 'monkey business'.

Same song, second verse, could get better but it's gonna get worse.

3. Hart Would Be Terrific!
Colorado has a strong libertarian streak, and the "gotcha" journalism that harmed Hart might even be an asset among those constituents. (The "get out of the bedroom" vote, if you will.)

4. great news
if Hart runs that might increase turnout in the Denver/Boulder area, which would help us in the presidential election.

6. It would be nice to see a democrat in the
Senate again. Strickland was so close this last time that I think we may have a shot!

8. That would be fabulous
If the idiotic Democratic Party hadn't toploaded the '84 convention to coronate sleepy-eyed Mondale, he could have taken the nomination and possibly won.

His ideas for streamlining the military (combining all services) was a real winner, both financially and tactically. When we went on our little
"crush the weak" action in Grenada, the Marines couldn't even call in Naval gunfire because of protocol and frequency problems. What a joke: the Marines are PART OF THE NAVY.

He's one of the most underutilized politicians in recent U.S. political history; I'd love to see him come back.

13. Great news to me in Denver!

I would have supported Gary had he run for Pres. this time, and would certainly love to see him oust "Nighthorse" Campbell - a posturing hypocrite turncoat if there ever was one. Also, Colorado needs to balance off Sen. Wayne Allard (a virtual Strom Thurmond clone), who slandered his way to election over Dem. Tom Strickland in 2002. Go Gary!!
