Anybody hear Mike Malloy last night?

I just downloaded the show and am listening to it for the first time. I just about fell out when he is talking about Candy Crowley critcizing John Kerry for ordering swiss cheese on his cheese steak sandwich.

He says, "Have you seen Judy Woodruff? She looks like she's been through a famine. And have you seen Candy Crowley? She looks like she caused it!"

OMG... I just roared. What a mental image that is. Bwahahaha!

Malloy's description of the repuke ads. The ads are like a "ratdog" that comes out to nibble at your ankle before you kick it away.

That sort of program makes the whole thing worthwhile, even though I barely break even on the costs.

everytime I try to download the Malloy archive off the whiterose site , all I get is turning and churning and churning for more than fifteen minutes. Anybody else get that? I have the latest versions of Realplayer , Windows Media and Winamp , with a dial up at 56K. I would love to hear the show but it is on way past my bedtime.

It takes me 15 min to dload with my 640k DSL....so you will have to wait much longer. Well worth it at any speed.

Most audio players will want to download the whole darned file before they will consent to begin playing it. On a 56K modem (assuming you are actually getting a 56Kps connect rate, it can take 95 minutes to download a three hour show that was recorded at 24Kbps.

Now, you can sometimes do better by pasting the URL right into the player's "Open URL" menu item. To do this, right click on the show link, and select "Copy Shortcut". Open Windows Media Player, and control-U is the shortcut for the Play URL item. Click in the dialog text area, and then paste (control-V) in the URL you copied out of your browser. After a brief period buffering, it should start to play. Should your line be too slow, you may get gaps where the show will stall and buffer a bit more befor continuing.

I was still downloading from the time of my first post! Using Windows 98SE , opened Windows Media Player, went to "file" in the toolbar,to "open URL" and pasted the URL lifted from the link on Whiterose. Took only a few minutes--this is great--thank you.
