List the Possible Vice Presidential Candidates
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 03:32 PM by Composed Thinker
These are names that I've seen people throw around:

1. Bill Richardson, Gov. of New Mexico

2. Wesley Clark, former NATO General

3. Bob Graham, Senator from Florida

4. Mark Warner, Governor of Virginia

Of course, this is a very small list, and with so many candidates running for president, it's hard to figure out who will be the presidential nominee, let alone the vice presidential nominee. But I thought I'd ask anyway.

14. a hero of the times
I really admire him, what he did I dont think most people could, he was a leader of a civil rights organization at a young age. He's also a real class act it would be an honor to have him on a ticket.

15. Depends on who's al.
I think Landrieu could fire up the base, which she's shown the ability to do, and also lend support in a number of swing states (LA, AR, WV, FL), as well as with moderate, nondemocratic women.

She did well in an election which the republicans had turned into a referendum on Bush, beating "Bush" in a state he had carried in 2000.

23. But she was the incumbent
I just don't see her as vice presidential material, whatever that means. But to be fair, I don't know that much about her, except that she comes off well on television. Has she ever mentioned any ambitions for the federal level?

13. I Like Bob Menendez From New Jersey
even if we lose having an Hispanic on the ticket will help us cement our hold on the crucial Hisapnic vote for the future.

And Bob Menendez is very popular with the Cuban community in FL because of his anti-Castro politics.

17. Hillary?
I really don't see why not, unless she's too impatient to wait till 2012 to run for president (which if a Democrat wins she'll have to do anyway).

BTW Landrieu runs extremely close races here, she's alright but she's not extremely popular. Of course she looked great in the past election compared to her brainless George Bush rubber stamp negative campaigning bitch of an opponent Suzzie Terrell. I guess nobody sees any long serving senators being chosen for VP, so I won't throw any names out.

26. When Hillary will run
I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but I think she needs to wait a while to run for president or be the vice presidential nominee. She has to win her Senate seat again, as that will give her more legitimacy. Because of the unwritten rules that junior senators take a backseat to senior senators, she hasn't racked up any major achievements. (After watching Bill O'Reilly trash her and also come out against child predators, I had the idea of her suggesting a minimum of 50 or 75 years in prison for people caught violating children, something that will surely go over well with pretty much everyone--because who is against protecting children?) If she wins in 2006, she can, I would guess, start to become a more prominent player in the Senate. Whether or not she wins in 2012, she will have served two full terms (and if she does win in 2006, she would most likely have a really great shot at a third term). And besides, by then, all of the scandals of the administration will be but a fairly distant memory for voters. She needs that to help her nationally.

Of course, someone else could emerge before her.

19. wish list - or reality list
while my wish list would not incude this possibility - I think some pragmatists (and his own ambitious) would throw Senator Evan Bayh into the running.

21. Mosley-Braun
I think she'd be an excellent pick for VP. It's about time Dems stepped up to the plate to put a minority on the ticket (much like Gore did).
