Drudge thinks George is going to Athens? To watch IRAQI players?
How insulting exactly would that be? Not just to the Iraqis, but to the Americans who don't rate a visit?

Is this like when BushCo proclaimed free medical care for Iraqis?

3. Don't count on it
IF it is true that they are "contemplating" it, I can guarantee you that's all they are doing.

Just the suggestion that he wants to go to the Olympics to cheer on the Iraqi soccer team is enough to give his supporters a new hard on. He doesn't have to and certainly won't actually do it. Security nightmare of massive proportions.

And how could they stop everyone booing him?

4. NBC's coverage
This story and the Drudge mention were broadcast as a sidebar during NBC's Olympics this afternoon, and I was struck by the fact that the report made no bones about the fact of Bush's international unpopularity, and that no one of any nationality wanted him there -- let alone the Iraquis. The report went as far as quoting some Iraquis who are sick of being used as fodder for *ush's re-election bid. Strange to hear a report on mainstream media (granted, during a sports broadcast) that acknowledged reality.

6. Bush only goes in front of invitation only crowds; you think he would
start in Athens where even the Iraqi team would turn their backs on him? Get real.
