Mayor Club Med, you are TOAST
New York 1 News just did a story on the BUS DEPOT that they have turned into a temporary jail for the protestors. People are getting sick because the floor is still covered with grime and oil from the buses.

The MAYOR responded "It's not supposed to be Club Med. I used to go to Club Med, and it was nice, but that's not what this is." That's my paraphrase.

Mayor Club Med, you will RUE the DAY you invited the GOP to this city and then used the opportunity to ridicule the ordinary New Yorkers you jailed for the GOP's convenience.

MAYOR CLUB MED, your mayor days are numbered. You are outta here.

1. I'm not a New Yorker,
but I've never liked him from day one, and I didn't like the one before him, either!

3. He's showing his true colors this week
Don't believe all those stories about how he used to be a Democrat and he only went Republican to win the nomination. Bloomberg is delighted to throw the riff raff in jail while he fetes the wealthy. He is reveling in it.

2. Are any 911 family members in those facilities?
that would be the BEST campaign against him!

6. No way to tell
NY Indymedia is keeping pretty good track. They are supposed to release most of them this morning. Apparently they are not at the bus terminal anymore - they are all at the Tombs downtown. Something like 1300 of them.

He went on to say that he has gone to Club Med, and jail isn't Club Med. Completely officious.

Civil liberty lawyers and protesters yesterday criticized police tactics and the use of Pier 57 to hold detainees in the aftermath of chaotic demonstrations Tuesday that resulted in nearly 1,200 arrests.

But Mayor Michael Bloomberg lauded police conduct and defended the use of the pier garage, saying, "It's not supposed to be Club Med."

So many people were taken in Tuesday that the pier filled to capacity by 8 p.m, detainees said. Officially, 1,191 people were arrested — a record for one county in one day — for a convention total of 1,763. About half of the detainees received desk appearance tickets, court officials said.

"There never have been so many people arrested, largely nonviolently, peacefully in the history of our 80 political conventions in the United States," said Tom Hayden, the former California legislator and '60s-era activist who was a defendant in the Chicago Seven trial stemming from the 1968 Democratic convention.
