Are the Rethugs cocky at your work today?
My God, I was ambushed by three of my co-workers today who normally won't debate me because they are clueless on the issues. They were so fired up about last night, especially the "red meat" speech made by Zig Zag. They're now saying its gonna be a landslide for Bush. Extolling his greatness. Saying he's THE GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER!!!! That he will keep us safe, and Kerry will just wilt when it comes to dealing with our enemies. Man, it is incredible today.

2. That's actually perfect
If people like that are hyped up over Zell, it probably turned off many times that number of moderates.

34. Yes, I told them independents and moderates will not vote
for another Bush presidency. That this type of talk won't go over well. But it's still in their minds a landslide for Bush.

3. Curious - Democrats are all idiots until one speaks at their convention?
That is so hard to believe.

None of my repub co-workers have approached me. They know that I'll zap them with the facts. Many of them won't debate me anymore.

Zell is going to sink their ship. Tell them that. Idiots. Why do we work with so many of them? You have my sympathy.

4. the response I got was that Zell is insane.
Most people I have talked to saw through his BS and think he ultimately will hurt the GOP.. But these are people who saw the aftermath on CNN, MSNBC etc...

Let them grovel.. this is far from over.

13. Zell is selling a book. He's a pathetic old man who'd be nowhere
without the attention his new masters are giving him. Says a lot about Republican values when they showcase a pathetic old man to spew hypocritical hate at the Democratic Party. They've got nothing but fear, 9/11, and terrorists to cover the sorry mess they've created, but you Koolaid drinkers are way too drunk to understand the damage these criminals are doing to this country.

The rotting carcass of the Republican elephant is really starting to stink. Luckily, it will be buried in November.

18. You have missed the point.
Zeller is nuts and now everyone knows it. He helped the democrats more because everyone sees how nuts he. I wouldn't vote for someone who he is supporting. He challenged Chris Matthews to a duel. He has gone off the deep end. Made a total fool out of himself.

9. Zell told too many easily-tracked lies
I think that the GOP was using him to "run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes it." In this case, "it" was a new series of Talking Points (i.e., GOP lies).

Nearly every major point he made has already been refuted by pundits, and not even the real hard-ass partisan Democrats, either. Most of them, like his supposed votes to de-fund specific weapons systems, are refutable in one swoop: Congress does not vote on specific weapons systems, at least not the ones Zell listed.

Giving Zell the benefit of the doubt does him little good -- he went along with it at blood heat. Within a week, he will be a lughingstock (unless the press choses to ignore his performance).

30. And the flag you speak of represents full-out Fascism.
I couldn't help but think to myself: they are trying to find out whether full-on Fascism flies in this country yet. I fear that that answer is "yes".

14. No ambushes at work
But I did overhear some Zell enthusiasts when I was out at lunch. One said he was "very impressed," and the other said Zell was funny (some people are kinda humor-challenged, I guess). He especially liked the "spitballs" line.

I also saw a couple of guys at the gas station yukking it up about how great things are going. One had a *-(Go)Cheney(Yourself) bumper sticker, and when the other saw he struck up a buddy-buddy conversation.

I just avoided confronting these morAns. Some people really are unreachable on a personal level, unless you know them and can have some influence.
Meet the Press, August 1, 2004:
SEN. MILLER: This (Kerry) is a man that voted against the weapons system that we're using to fight the war on terror. This is a man who voted against increases in intelligence funding. He wanted to cut intelligence funding.

MR. RUSSERT: But on defense and intelligence authorization bills, you have the same voting record as John Kerry.

27. yesterday I had three of 'em
get started on me. Working at an institution of higher learning, I'm more used to associating with politically astute individuals, but our system has been hit by a really nasty virus, and these three propellor heads were in here disinfecting all the computers. The least offensive of them--actually someone I consider to be a friend, someone I would have no problems dealing with on a one-to-one basis, asked everyone wha they thought of Ahnold's speech, and then one of his fellow geeks asked me if I were a Demo. When I said yes, the guy actually moved his chair as far away from me as he could and still reach the keyboard. I couldn't make any headway with them. Ruined my day.

33. I just heard on TOTN a caller from Chicago
identify herself as a "Schwarzenegger Republican." She feels isolated in the Puke party by religious nutcases, and Zell Miller really turned her off. I wonder how many OTHER pukes today are puking over Zell "posterchild for why right wing nutcases make questionable statespersons" Miller.
