What were the final results in Florida in 2000?
I thought the final re-counts showed Gore won but a talk show Host here in Albuquerque keeps saying that Bush won after all the re-counts. Did I miss something???

2. Final results are confusing. Here goes...
The official count put Bush ahead by under 1000 votes, I think under 600 in fact. The recount methodology Gore was seeking (recount only in four disputed counties) would have still left Bush with a ~150 vote margin of victory. But a full state recount would leave Gore with a plurality over Bush of about 100 votes.

The real scandal in Florida is that Republican operatives actively sought to suppress African American turn out--including many hundreds of blacks who were wrongfully robbed of their right to vote because they had felony convictions out of Florida (not legal grounds) or because they just happened to have names similar to people who actually have committed felonies.

Bush's victory claim to Florida is fraudulent and is only supported by other fraudulent claims.

4. Remember the networks called it for Gore early based on exit polls.

And Jeb ran to the cameras and said I don't accept this. The his goons went to work. Bags of votes were found months later -- uncounted. Gore's mistake was going after recounts in the Democratic counties. The real mischief was in the Republican controlled counties.

A recount in Broward, Palm Beach and Dade would have still given the edge to Bush. A statewide recount -- a real recount -- would have given it to Gore. But in reality it probably wasn't that close. Gore won Florida and Jeb stole it.

3. Recounts were never finished Bush lost but was appointed
Florida threw out a lot of ballots and dumped people from the rolls And Tom Delay staffers went there and raised a ruckus. Counting stopped because of multiple GOP players. And Bush just started ignoring everything and moving ahead like a mac truck - same as he does now - and started appointing cabinet members.... the supreme court appointed him - he never won - the recount was never finished. Legally it should have been done. Legally Bush is not the president.

5. Depends on what standard was used
Using undervotes only, I think one study actually indicated the most stringent method favored Gore, but ones with a more liberal view of which chads or dimpled marks counted as a vote favored Bush.

The overvotes cost Gore the presidency, double punches and other errors on flawed ballot designs in something like 14 of Florida's 47 counties, not just Palm Beach and Duval. I think the Miami Herald concluded Gore would have won by 26,000 votes if the votes had been attributed as intended. Other estimates have the number much higher, upwards of 40,000.

7. "overvotes" include stuff like the voter punched Gore's name and also
wrote in his name.

The Florida State Supreme court was ready to hand down a ruling to re-count all the ballots looking for the "voter intent" when the SCOTUS stepped in.

If all the ballots were fairly counted looking for clear voter intent Gore won

6. They claim that * won Florida by 537 votes.
But if you want the real story, look at all the African-Americans who were kept from voting, the purge of felons from the voter lists, and the butterfly ballot.

Look at Citizens for Legitimate Government's website, and read the Greg Palast article from the Washington Post on the recount.

If all the votes had been counted, * would have lost.

8. All that they would have needed were the Jewish votes
in Palm Beach that were credited to Buchanan. Buchanan himself said they weren't his voters and they knew what the problem was with the butterfly ballot. There were 3000 votes there ,more than enough to call the election for Gore. They should have just revoted Palm Beach as a result of a defective ballot!

Vincent Bugliosi also wrote a great book ripping the USSC called
"None Dare Call It Treason". I believe a good portion of it is excerpted in archives at http://www.thenation.com

google around still a lot of good info and links available.
