Anderson Cooper standing outside in hurricane...
hanging onto his hat talking to another guy. He's barely able to stand up. These guys who do this are nuts!

1. I personally hope he gets hit with a flying metal garbage can.
But if not him, anyone will do.

I just don't get it. Standing there with a microphone while he's being blown around. Now one's standing in the street, but having a hard time.

Is this required in the job description:shrug:

to get blown around (how come they never send Candy Crowley to cover a hurricane?).

It's hilarious to watch what has become an essential element of responsible hurricane coverage: the hapless reporter standing outside to demonstrate for us what it would be like if a person was dumb enough to go outside. Their tone shifts between trying to oversell it by trying to make it seem more dangerous than it actually is, and then when it actually does get really dangerous they try to maintain their dignity by pretending that it's not really that bad (I'm not the stupid whore I might seem like).

6. Seeing them standing outside in a hurricane...
Reminds me of how Bush is doing almost the same thing. He's speaking outside in the hurricane with the quagmire in Iraq and the economy down the drain, but he makes everything look ok.

Bush: Ohh, it's only a little wind and rain. Everything's all right.

*Trees fall and roofs are flying off buildings.*

Bush: Oh, that can be rebuilt; America is stronger than just that one building!

7. My business partner's old secretary saw her boyfriend beheaded...
by flying debris in Charley. I got the story last week. He went outside to check on a loose boat and a piece of flying roof beheaded him. His girlfriend saw the whole thing from a window. She's still in shock.

8. Oh My God. That story made the hair on the
back of my neck stand up! What a horrible thing to happen and witness. I was going to make some smart-ass comment about Geraldo, and your post took it right out of my mind. (It probably would have been stupid, anyway, something about hot air and Geraldo and shit flying around...)
