Also another picture of Kerry drinking a beer.

A strong leader can handle that.

Massachusetts Gov. William Weld and John Kerry toast at a Boston pub in 1996 after Kerry beat Weld in an exhaustive contest for Kerry’s seat in the U.S. Senate.

"He's at his best when he's cornered," said Paul Watanabe, a political scientist at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and a longtime Kerry watcher. "Putting him in that fighting mode is key."

1. It takes a real man to handle the demons of alcohol
Many many people are unable to handle alcohol. GWB among them. Kerry has the internal strength to conquer demons. Bush has to turn and run from demons.

2. Weld was a known heavy drinker
And the press here in Mass LOVED Weld.

Check out the florid color of Weld's face

Kerry can beat an alcoholic;he's done it already

Bye Bye Bushie

6. whatever
as a recovering alcoholic, and the daughter of 2 who died because of their alcoholism even after quitting, and the sister of another recovering alcoholic, I don't think you can say people who can't handle alcohol have less internal strength.

I think we have more for being able to overcome it.

I won't touch Bush's drinking problem/alcoholism. Its a hellofa drug, much worse than marijuana IMHO.

I don't think I can express how offended I feel.

13. Don't twist my words please
There are many people who have escaped from alcoholism either through their own efforts, or with the help from professionals. Those that try to conquer the demon, or who seek help in conquering it are stronger than those who don't try.

3. That is silly
Some people can drink and some cannot. I can have a drink anytime I want with no problems but my brother can't. Therefore he chooses not to drink. Alcohol affects people differently. It has nothing to do with whether you are a man or not. It is just how it reacts with some people's chemicals. A real man knows when not to do it.

5. Exactly.
Numerous people can have a drink now and then, to celebrate something or whatever. Not everybody is an alcoholic as Bush apparently was.

Alcoholism doesn't just disappear, faith in Jesus or not.

9. And there's quite a bit of evidence that he is not a recovering alcoholic.
His behavior
No 12 steps
No other support group - apparently he places his faith in Gawd, but doesn't do any of the work involved
This video - http://www.thesmokinggun.com/graphics/packageart/bush/tsg_bush.avi
filmed 6 years after * allegedly went cold turkey.

20. Bush said it did - well documented too
"He quit drinking when he found Jesus", is the official story. Of course the unofficial one is that he never stopped drinking at all.

11. No.....You are wrong
There are lots of people that cannot have even a taste. Trust me on that. Don't make me get you a link. Stck to Bush's crappy politics. Lots of people are alcoholics. I am sure there are a few Liberals that cannot drink as well.

19. We need to attack Bush wherever he is vulnerable
Taking the high road is not enough. Sticking to politics is not enough. We need to destroy him completely, whatever it takes, for the sake of the planet. If he is drinking, we need to talk about it. If he has psychological problems because he didn't deal correctly with his past drinking problem, we need to talk about that. If he is on medications to control his psychological problems, that is also a valid issue. The man has his finger on the button. His mental health is pertinent.

12. Looks like Kerry is drinking Bass or Watneys.
Weld is drinking my favorite, Guiness, which I had to give up years ago 'cause it was making me too fat.

But I did have one pint of Guinness after my classes were finished this Summer, right after the last final exam. I'll probably have another in December when finals are over.

15. So you would think people would rather have a beer w/ Kerry...
since * doesn't drink beer (anymore). A logical response to an irrelevant question.

17. I would much rather have any drink with Kerry, whether beer, wine,
coffee or tea than with Bush. As a matter-of-fact, if I walked into a Starbucks and saw Bush there, I would leave.

with Bush dumb or what? I mean, W is an alcoholic. One beer for him and he will fall off the wagon. Is that what these people want? LOL.
