Apparently, tonight's 60 minutes expose "delayed" in OKC market area
I did a search and did not find this. I just received this email (I blacked out personal info). Anyone else here/see this?

Date: Wed Sep 8, 2004 12:20:47 PM US/Central
Subject: OKC: 60 Minutes episode scheduled at 3:15 AM to protect Bush?

Tonight's 60 Minutes -- which will hurt Bush's campaign for election -- is
being preempted in our market and others around the country ... at least
broadcasts. The same thing happened to last fall's episode of 60 Minutes
which was damaging to the Bush Administration's case for war with Iraq.

If you want to tune in to the broadcast, CBS has conveniently scheduled
the show for 3:15 AM. (See
http://tv.yahoo.com/tvpdb?.src=my&d=tvp&lineup=us_DMA650&channels=us_KWTV&id=169016916&chspid=166030861&chname=CBS+9&progutn=1094717700&.intl=us.)

For more details, see the email I sent to Steve Rendall, of Fairness and
Accuracy in Reporting (http://fair.org), below.

========================================================
Steve, I was glad to make contact with you today. As you can see from the
CBS News website, tonight is the night they plan to air the
much-anticipated story in which "Former Texas House Speaker and Lt. Gov.
Ben Barnes ... says he got George W. Bush into the National Guard"

However, in markets like Oklahoma City (and others, I hear from our KWTV
programming director, I believe Kim Eubank, whom I reached via
405/843.6641), 60 Minutes is being preempted by "A Time to Live," a piece
of paid programming that CBS also asked affiliates to run last time 60
Minutes aired a controversial epispode, one damning to Bush. The story was
entitled, "The Man Who Knew," in which "former intelligence analyst Greg
Thielmann" debunked the Administration's claims voiced by Colin Powell at
the U.N. (see
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/14/60II/main577975.shtml). The 60
Minutes web site lists both Feb. 4, 2003, and Feb. 4, 2004 as broadcast
dates. But I have a tape of the show, dated 10/15/03; and the URL of the
story suggests 10/14/04. I have a call in to KWTV about this other
preemption, and I hope they will be able to verify the date.

(Note: The preempting piece, while covering the important story of "the
life-saving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," originally
aired March 9, 2001. See
http://tv.yahoo.com/tvpdb?.src=my&d=tvp&lineup=us_DMA650&channels=us_KWTV&id=167586671&chspid=166030861&chname=CBS+9&progutn=1094688000&.intl=us.)

Is it true that CBS requests that its affiliates across the country which
are running the paid programming serve as a screen preventing the public
from viewing damning evidence against the Bush Administration?

Thanks,
--

2. I think they may be doing the same thing in Texas.
When I set my TIVO for the 60 min tonight, the description of the show was referring to Robert Duval...nothing about Barnes. I set up TIVO anyway, and when I get home, I will check out the middle of the night and see if it is playing at that time.

12. I hope you're right because our cable info says we're going to be
treated to the life and times of Robert Duval. Like I really give a fat rat's patoot about Robert Duval, his life, or any time he's spent on this planet.

18. Is it Sinclair again??
The ones that refused to air the Nightline show with the names of the fallen soldiers read by Koppel?

This is just outrageous! I don't care who owns the stations, it's just wrong, wrong, wrong.. I wonder, did the TV Guide and other things show the Duvall show before all this came down? Or was it a planned pre-emption. Someone needs to call the producers or email them, at 60 minutes and ask what's up.

not that anyone reading this board doesn't know that. Personally i think all protests and rallies should be right in front of media headquarters, or at least you can march to media headquarters, as was posted here yesterday. Its certainly not going to stop until we force the issue.

20. It could be Robert Duval plus Ben Barnes.
After all, more people know Duval. He's mentioned in KHOU's site for tonight, here in Houston.

But I heard a spot announcement this AM about Ben Barnes on the show. So--tune in.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

by Gil Scott-Heron

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John
Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie
Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.

There will be no pictures of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of Whitney Young being
run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Roy
Wilkens strolling through Watts in a Red, Black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the proper occasion.

Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville
Junction will no longer be so damned relevant, and
women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of hairy armed women
liberationists and Jackie Onassis blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom
Jones, Johnny Cash, Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back after a message
bbout a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.
