CNSNews: America's Spy Software Scandal (about Promis)
Here's an interesting story, but I didn't find it in time to put it in the Latest News thread:

http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCommentary.asp?Page=%5CCommentary%5Carchive%5C200307%5CCOM20030709c.html

snippet:

Did Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden have access to a U.S. computer tracking program that enabled them to monitor our intelligence-gathering efforts and financial transactions? If so, who is responsible for allowing the program to fall into their hands? And who else among America's enemies might have access to the tracking system?

It's an explosive spy software scandal that no one in official Washington wants to investigate.

----

I have a feeling there's a lot of intrigue behind this. Does this tie into the still unexplained financial transactions based on 9/11 foreknowledge, for instance? Drudge Report reported something similiar a day or so ago, but it's nice to see a source other than Drudge.

2. Here's another
Referred to in the above article. Also from a curiously conservative news source.

Firm Says Stolen Software Helped Bin Laden plot 9/11

January 6, 2003
By Jerry Seper, THE WASHINGTON TIMES

The head of a computer firm wants the independent commission named to investigate September 11 intelligence failures to review accusations that his software-tracking program, which he says the Justice Department stole, was diverted to Osama bin Laden.

And here's another mentioned, also from a source owned by the Washington Times/Moonies:

I can't figure the Washington Times out. They have really good articles from time to time, amongst the dreck.

Here's a really interesting PROMIS article. This one is from Wired back in 1993, but its incredibly relevant to today. Looks like this PROMIS story should be huge, bigger than Watergate (if the US had a free press). In this must-read story, there are ties between PROMIS and the October Surprise, the Iran Contra affair, a plan by Ollie North to round up all the dissidents in the US, Israeli plans to crush the Palestinians, and much more! It's really wierd that a mainstream source like Wired would publish something so revelatory as this:

Here's a sample, from a sidebar to the article:

A Dead Journalist Raises Some Eyebrows

Among the many strong conclusions of the "House Judiciary Committee Report on the Inslaw Affair" was this rather startling and brief recommendation: "Investigate Mr. Casolaro's death."

Freelance reporter Danny Casolaro spent the last few years of his life investigating a pattern which he called "The Octopus." According to Casolaro, Inslaw was only part of a greater story of how intelligence agencies, the Department of Justice and even the mob had subverted the government and its various functions for their own profit.

Casolaro had hoped to write a book based on his reporting. His theories, which some seasoned investigative journalists have described as naive, led him into a Bermuda Triangle of spooks, guns, drugs and organized crime. On August 10th, 1991, he was found dead in a Martinsburg, W. Va., hotel room. Both wrists were deeply slashed.
