Here is why the Repubs are winning an election that they should be losing
"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over." - Adolph Hitler

=================

The Republican Neo-Cons have made this an art-form. The way they demonize the messenger to discredit them is masterful. (The "French-looking", flip-flopping Kerry and his ambulance chasing, lying, personal injury attorney) The way they repeat the same lies over and over until they are true is a testament to their discipline. (The use of faux news networks and conservative talk radio media to provide support for the message) The way they drill home the war deflects away from his other failures. ({Religious} Wars are perfect for building blind support)

1. That's what I've been saying
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition. I'm an elementary librarian, it works.

2. Election? What election?

Did the polls open already? Let's just see who wins in November. I'm not buying into polls that may be nothing more than an extension of the media treatment of this campaign and Boy Bonehead's dismal performance as "leader of the free world".

3. Learn from the masters?

Hmm...Kind of queasy agreeing with Hitler, but it's true. Communicating a message to millions of people who aren't listening at the same time, and when they are listening, aren't particularly attentive, is a significant challenge. So keeping it simple and repeating it over and over until it sinks in makes sense.

When the success of the Swift Boat Liars became apparent after Republican convention, there was much discussion of going negative. Kerry's campaign definitely became more aggressive. But what struck me in those first few days was the number of charges that were being hurled at Bush. It seemed to me that pushing one at time would have been better. But it shouldn't be lies (contrary to the Nazi masters).

The message of the day idea. Same with the policy positives. And the one that makes most sense to me is to push the advantages of Kerry's healthcare initiatives over Bush's. Kerry's plan is significantly better by orders of magnitude. It is extremely relevant to swing voters, and to democratic leaning citizens who fail to vote. He needs to inspire them to come out and vote -- for their own self-interest.

4. Actually it was Joseph Goebbels who said that, not Hitler

5. broken record

They do this every election. They come up with false labels to slander our candidates, then they repeat them incessantly until even the news media is doing it.

I've seen far too many news casters call kerry a Flip Flopper, not just Faux News.

It's an injustice to our political system and our Democracy.

Keep fighting, we can't afford to lose.

6. Whoa, Pard'ner. No one's won anything yet
If you mean the polls say one candidate or another is "ahead," remember that polls are often inaccurate - based on samples that, in this day and time, could be drawing far too many from one polarized end of the American electorate or the other.

It is true that the "simple" and easily digested (Read: pablum) lends itself to these times. But a lie is a lie. And many see through the lie but are shrewd enough to play their cards close to their chests. They know this Administration isn't bluffing when it's holding the Nazi, Corporate cards. They're keeping quiet but their votes will tell the whole story.

7. Why does Kerry let the flip-flopping b.s. go.......

unchallenged? This is the stupidest strategy I've ever seen and my memory of poorly managed democratic presidential campaigns goes back to Hubert Humphrey.

It's not rocket science. It's not brain surgery. Here's what you do:

you turn it back around on your opponent, thereby neutralizing the issue. Example: Bush is the real flip-flopper because:

1. he opposed nation building... then became consumed with it.
2. he opposed the 9-11 commission; then supported it.
3. he insisted that "we will win the war on terror" then admitted that the "war on terror" can never be won.

flip flop, flip flop flip flop.
There are a hundred more examples.

Instead, Kerry's response is to change the subject back to the economy, thereby ceding the flip flop issue to the Resident. This is tantamount to saying " I AM a flip flopper but you should vote for me anyway because....."

The truth is they're BOTH flip floppers but Bush flips 'cause he's a fool and a creep and Kerry because he really does deal with nuance and complexity. Alas, the undecideds are, and will remain, oblivious to the distinction.

Repeating something ad nauseum is not, i think, exactly what Goebells and Hitler were talking about. It must be done with some skill and imagination... both of which the dem camp has in EXTREMELY short supply. Kerry keeps repeating that this is a bad economy til even I am sick of hearing it. If you are not getting any traction you are not succeeding on this issue and YOU TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

And NEUTRALIZE the opponents "strength".

Somone tell JK, PLEASE!

Paul
