Republicans simply don't care. Bush could murder his wife......
and they would still vote for the bastard.

What is it with these people? Why are these supposedly religious and upstanding Republicans so willing to overlook the fact their boy is an alcoholic, a convicted DUI driver, a drug abuser (former?), an intemperate, spoiled rich kid, a deserter, a failed businessman many times over, a deserter, an election stealer, a liar who started a war using false pretenses, a deserter, and the worst president this nation has ever had? And did I mention he was a deserter?

Why are they so willing to overlook the fact he's caused the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent children and women in Iraq, and the deaths of over 1000 of our own soldiers, his specious involvement with the energy industry, his authorization, vis a vis Asscroft, to dismantle the Bill of Rights, his support of a nest of spies and neocons in the Pentagon, his running up the biggest deficit in the history of the world, his emptying of our treasury to his rich friends and supporters,....and on, and on, and on?

Why?

My theory, is fear. The right-wing has done such a superb job of demonizing the Democrats and the left, they now think that our winning the election would be tantamount to handing over the country to Osama. Coupled with the hate right-wing pundits and media corporatists have whipped up against liberals, I honestly think they would continue to support Bush up to and including if he was exposed as being gay, had raped children, and murdered his wife.

It's sick. It's like the madness that overtook Nazi Germany with their support of Hitler. It's helping to destroy the fabric of our nation. One thing is certain, Republicans have now been exposed as the world's biggest hypocrites. They preach morality while thumping their bibles, but let their leader get away with murder....

2. distinguish between Republicanms and Freepers
And when I say Freepers, I don't mean just those who frequent freerepublic.com but all wingnuts.

Quite a few Republicans have SOME reasoning ability.

4. I agree

They sure knew how to put a high price on Clinton when he so called "lied" about his personal life.

They could not care less about the fact that this resident LIED and took us into war and LIED on his own military record.

Maybe that's why he said,"kerry served honorably," so that no one could say he was smearing Kerry. Meanwhile he sends his dirty little elves to do his dirty work.

5. You have nailed it
Republicans are behaving against their philosophy. They have no consistency in ideaology - only in their desire to re-select a mad man. The lifting of the ban on assault weapons scares me. I think the Repubs know they are going to lose and are preparing to go "OK City" o the rest of us.

6. Instill Fear - Correct
The ones behind it are about power and greed. They use fear to get people to support them.

But in the end it is the media that is at fault. Bush could do or say anything - if the media would do its job, it wouldn't matter.

You are right that Bush could murder his wife and some people wouldn't care. Heck, the media wouldn't care. They would say on page A23 - Bush dismisses claims he murdered wife. And that would be that.

7. Yep.
Ever heard that saying about politics, "Never get caught with a dead girl or a live boy"? * could get caught with one of each, and a coke spoon up his nose, and it wouldn't make a difference.

They have them mesmerized with their fear mongering.

We only can hope/pray there are enough sane, brave people left in the country to override them.

A person of color that I know sat impassively as we pointed out the racism and bigotry within the far-right. As far as he is concerned, either you're with America or with the terrorists. There ain't no reasoning with that.

minds over to Limpballs and Hannity. And, it is a very hopeful sign that Dan Rather has grabbed the bull by the horns.

Still, this mass psychosis is scary. If the people were truly thinking straight, they would have marched to the White House and physically removed these traitors some time ago. It shows the power of the media, that they are still allowed to walk as free men and women.

17. People are STILL wondering HOW Hitler
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 10:07 AM by in_cog_ni_to
and the Third Reich came to be. How did it happen? Why did no one see it coming? How did he exterminate 6 million Jews while the world watched? How was it all possible?

WE ARE SEEING HOW HE DID IT. RIGHT NOW, BEFORE OUR EYES. HISTORY IS REPEATING ITSELF. IT'S ALL OUT IN THE OPEN FOR THE WORLD TO SEE AND NO ONE IS DOING A DAMN THING ABOUT IT! WHY?! Where's CONGRESS? What are THEY doing to stop these damn fascists? I'll tell you what they're doing! They are signing friggin' bills that say 911 and Iraq ARE CONNECTED!! THAT is what they're doing!

My next question IS....the United States helped to take Hitler down. WHO IS GOING TO HELP US? Who do we have left to help save us? WHO is going to help us take down THIS SOB? NO ONE, that's who. I'm sure it was planned that way too. Alienate our allies and the sheeple in this country will be OURS to rule and there's not a DAMN thing anyone can do about it.

People could immigrate to THIS country during WWII. They could escape persecution by coming here. Where do WE go? How do WE escape this fucking Hitler incarnate??? :scared:

18. That 9/11='s Iraq vote burned my ass too. Out of the whole
House, only 16 voted against the bill. That means there were dozens of Dems who voted for it, including Pelosi. How many times are these Dems in congress going to sell us, and the nation out, by rubber stamping this march to fascism?

Many used the excuse that they could not vote against the bill, lest they be made to look weak on terrorism during an election year. My ass. Many of the Dems who voted for it are big AIPAC money grubbers, and this bill was being heavily promoted by the Israel lobby, as a means to cover their ass for helping to push us into war in Iraq in the first place.

Another win for Israel and the Republicans.

After the election, it will be time to clean (H)house, and get rid of all who have sold their souls to corporations and foreign lobbyists.

19. It's the "I Got Mine, Screw You" attitude
As long as they think they actually got a tax cut that is going to help line their pockets, they don't give a shit about anyone else. Of course we all know any tax cut they may have received will be yanked back out of their pocket some other way, but they are too stupid to figure that out.

21. It baffles me that people can't see the big picture here.
Their $300 tax cut was taken back a loooong time ago. Higher gas prices, higher energy/heating/air conditioning costs, higher health care costs (IF they can even afford health care), higher grocery bills and higher college tuition. HELLO! Even a family with 3-4 ($900-$1200) kids has repaid that damn tax cut. People are just stupid, like you said.

I do think you're right when you say it's fear- that they want a father figure to protect them from the big, bad world. But I think there's an element of hate as well.

Religious fanatic conviction that one is always right is the sign of a deluded mind.

There no sense in wondering about bias. Everyone is bias to some degree.

How a good fraction of our party thought this was supposed to inspire people to vote for our guy is still beyond me.

23. Fear is right...
The left has been unfairly demonized for a very long time. I spoke with my step-father recently, and he told me how his brother said that if Kerry is elected this will become a communist country! This was then followed by a rant against the "socialist welfare state." The ironic thing is he followed up the conversation asking if I knew whether or not Medicare would pay for his inhalers!
