Question: Could Dubya have extended the AWB without Senate action?
My local Dems board (in Youngstown, OH) is being Freeped by a group of yahoos from Alabama!!! Seems they have been posting lists of Dems boards in swing states. Since there is NO security, they have overrun it!!!

Anyway, their latest is Kerry and Edwards let down the 'Murickan people by not being is session to extend AWB. Did Dim Son NEED Senate pre-approval???

Since these Freepers are in 'Bama, I suggested they'd better stop postin' and git out there an' sand-bag the double-wide!!!

(Apologies to all Alabama DU members!!!)

3. He could have called Frist and asked to have it done.
and it would have gotten done. The Dems aren't in power, and they can't bring this to the prez without the Reps, but the Reps could have gotten it without the Dems.

So the Reps are completely and totally to blame for in future increase in gun deaths.

4. It would have taken congressional action
for him to get a law to sign.

It would have been like NAFTA in reverse.

If Bush wanted it passed, he would have had to get almost all the Democratis senators to vote with him because only a handful of Republicans would have.

5. You are thinking too deeply on it. Their argument is bullshit
It is inherently flawed.

If they contend that Kerry and Edwards, 2 Senators in the minority party of the Senate, let America down by not being there to extend the AWB (which is itself irrelevant, considering that the reich wing controlls congress); then what must they think of Bush, the PRESIDENT and CHIEF EXECUTIVE of the United States, for allowing the AWB to expire???
