Is this a joke???
September 11th is now known as "Patriot Day"????

:wtf:

Isn't the Fourth of July "Patriot Day"? Or am I smoking something weird...???

Geez! Now, like Lewis Black said tonight on The Daily Show, businesses and the government will be exploiting 9/11 by selling cards, flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, and even that commemorative coin made from the silver that was recovered under Ground Zero!

Does this make anyone else as irate as I am???? :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

2. Traditionally, the 19th of April was Patriot Day.
Of course, the people who stopped the British at Concord Bridge were nothing more than Massachusetts liberals.

3. maybe I can find stuffed Twin Towers to give
or have a Hallmark card and a big Twin Towers cookie ?
They cant be allowed to do this. 9/11 is not the defining moment of my life.
I am past it.

This plays into the hands of the NEOCON Fascists who are looking to legitimize thier stranglehold on power. Pure and simple. I won't let them do it.
Screw them.

4. Coming so close on the heels of Labor Day,
I wonder if it's designed to steal the thunder from that grand end-of-summer celebration of working people. "Patriot Day" smacks of corporate BS.

7. It does.
I will celebrate "Patiot Day" by refusing to buy anything exploiting 9/11.

This just makes me sick. :puke:

10. I'm with you on that !
If enough of us refuse to play this sick game, maybe it will go away.
It's not "official" yet is it? Please say it's not?

11. Sadly, it is true.
From Hallmark.com: "Patriot Day became a day of national observance on Dec. 18, 2001, when President George W. Bush signed a presidential proclamation.

The Patriot Day resolution designates a day to honor those killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States."

http://pressroom.hallmark.com/patriot_day.html

Here is that proclamation by Dubya: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/09/20020904-10.html

This is just sickening. :puke:

They just can't help themselves when it comes to cashing in on the misery of others. It's like a religious experience for the pricks.

6. That's okay
cuz November 2nd, 2004, will be known as the day an un-elected president was defeated in a landslide, and the darkest 4 years in American history were put to an end.

14. The other day, in my town, I saw...
a fire hydrant draped with the image of an American flag. Just thinking of all the stray dogs running around the neighborhood was enough to send me over the top.

16. The only person offended by the flag, is
George W. Bush, and only when they are draped over the coffins of dead soldiers. He finds that so offensive he won't be around them, and he won't allow them shown on tv.
