Last nights news looked like 1968
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 10:47 AM by LeftHander
Helicopters taking off, flying low over strange countryside.

Like this:

from L.A Times:

Men leaping from hovering helicopters in full battle gear.

US soldiers crashing through a gate into civilian garden kick stuff around and point weapons and women and children. Children and mother screaming in fear forced to ground on knees as other soldiers smash through ahouse and take away the father.

Rows of "criminals" prone with hands tied with plastic ties behind back.

I remember these scenes from 1968 when I was just a small boy. Now they are visiting again with chilling smiliarity.

Soon we will see images of wounded loaded into choppers on stretchers. And soon images will be captured that will shock the American public into realizing that something has gone very wrong.

Remember these?
From AP

How long before we get to see the true face of the conflict in Iraq?

La Times

MSNBC

How many more have to die in the name of pride and greed?

This war was wrong to begin with and staying one minute more will not change that.

2. Did the broadcast conclude with a body count?
It wouldn't be 1968 news without one.

3. Excellent post
To make the verisimilitude complete, I can't wait until President Stupidhead announces that he has a "secret plan" for getting us out of Iraq as a campaign point. But the plan can't be enacted until after November, and only if he's re-installed in the Oval Office.

10. The problem is that many still think things in Iraq are bad right now
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 02:31 PM by NNN0LHI
Things in Iraq are not bad right now in comparison to how bad things will be there next month and next year. We have not begun to see bad yet. The Iraqi resistance is just practicing right now. And they are getting better at what they do with each passing day. And people throughout the world are seeing what a few determined fighters can do even to the worlds only superpower. I do not see how that can be a good thing.
