Bush accused the CIA of "guessing" during the Allawi press conference.
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 12:55 PM by VolcanoJen
This is HUGE. This should be the lead on tonight's news. It won't even make the news, of course.

ON EDIT: Just rewound the Tivo so I could be sure to get this word-for-word.

Reuters: "Why do you think the CIA's assessment of conditions in Iraq are so much at odds with the optimism that you and Mr. Allawi are expressing?"

Bush: (looking incredibly annoyed; smirking wildly): "The CIA layed out several scenarios. Life could be lousy, life could be ok, life could be better. They were just, uhhh... guessing at what the conditions might be like. Uhhh, the Iraqi citizens are defying their pessimistic predictions. The Iraqi citizens are headed toward free elections. This government has been in place for uhh, a little over two months. And Iraqi citizens are seeing a determined effort by responsible citizens to lead to a more hopeful tomorrow. And, uhhh, I'm optimistic we'll succeed."

After that, he blabbered on about fighting the terrorists in Iraq so we won't have to fight them here in America. :eyes:

How can this idiot President insist America is "safer" while accusing the CIA of "guesswork"? My jaw hit the floor during that press conference. Unbelievable.

1. "There are several scenarios..."
Interesting, did he choose those words because HE is guessing?

2. He thinks he's invincible.
He hasn't been taken to task or held accountable for any of the crap he's said and/or done throughout his entire life. One cover-up after another. One lie after the next. Why should this be different? Same bullshit, different day.

I can't WAIT for November 2.

4. Not yet, but it should show up on the WH site soon.
I'll have an eagle-eye for the redaction, of course.

5. OSP - Office of Special Plans
- Someone should ask him about it...a group of Bushies operating outside US intelligence forces to manufacture evidence against Iraq.

7. Especially ironic since...
... Allawi is the attributed source of the "WMDs ready in 45 minutes" claim that the US fed to the UK and the UK fed back to the US for domestic consumption.

I'm beginning to think we'll have to lose every one of our troops in Iraq before Bush says, "well, I suppose things could be better."

Sheesh.

12. Kerry needs to bring up the OSP at the debates.
He's GOT to get this information out there, because the media sure isn't going to do it.

13. ASK him about the OSP?
that would entail real confrontational journalism! Get serious!

6. He's intentionally insulated from all contact from the real world
Doesn't read newpapers (doesn't read period by his own account), relies on his staff of sycophants for all the HAPPY news of the day, won't even go out into the real world long enough for a press conference, only accepts those who've signed loyalty oaths at his speeches....

And this ignorant, arrogant frat boy thinks that he knows better than the CIA.

Fucking faith based intelligence. :puke:

10. If Bush sticks with his "optimism vs. pessimism" talking point...
... as it clearly appears he will, we're going to win this thing.

"Who do you believe... me, or your lying eyes?"

Bush is DELUSIONAL and his insistent denial of conditions on the ground in Iraq continues to get people KILLED.

14. We've been saying that for awhile...
... but I think it might actually stick this time.

Beheadings, soldiers injured and dying in greater numbers than before the phony "sovereignty" handover, and Bush with his "What? Me Worry?" attitude.

How much more do Americans need to see before they understand Bush is DANGEROUS??

15. While it sounds attractive to kill terrorists in Iraq
rather than to fight them here, it will profit us not if we
create more terrorists than we kill by being in Iraq.

(We need to shout this from the rooftops)

16. Holy CRAP. CNN just showed this clip, and they were critical!
They followed the "Bush accuses CIA of guessing" line!

Wow.
