20. I voted for Nader in both 1996 and 2000, but not this time.
And please stop insulting my intelligence with your "Zell in 2008?" bullshit. That's a high-school debating tactic called "reductio ad absurdum." Surely you're above such juvenile nonsense.

4. Who's talking disenfranchisement?
If the Reform Party disbands people can still write-in their vote for the Bush/Nader ticket.

13. I am sorry, but it really makes no difference if
Nader is on the ballot or not. His supporters could always write him in even if he is not on the ballot.

Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 10:26 PM by mike_c
Take Kerry off the Florida ballot because the Kerry write ins will be counted anyway?! Why would ANYONE who supports democracy want to do so by limiting the ballot choices of voters?

I think Bush would like a lot of the Reform Party platform.

23. Liberal? Their last candidate was Pat Buchanan.
I think it's more about disenfranchising political parties are so non-existant that they merely serve as tools for whomever can take over their microphone with a few hundred people on a Saturday morning.

11. There really isn't such thing as Reform Party.
Apparently, they only have 18 $ in the bank.
But supreme court said that Florida doesn't really have a definition on what constitutes a party, so Nader gets to stay on the ballot.

12. The Palm Beach Post story on this at least told the true story...
"Consumer activist Ralph Nader and state Republicans scored a major victory Friday when Nader was assured a spot on Florida's presidential ballot in a 6-1 decision by the Florida Supreme Court."

story here

I'm actually thinking this will cancel out...folks not excited about Kerry vs. folks disillusioned with Georgie.

22. Yes, but
At least in the Tampa Bay area, EVERY Nader supporter from 2000 that I've spoken to, heard from or heard of is going Kerry this year. I'm friendly with lots of organizations that were at his Tampa rally that year (mine included) and like me, appreciate his right to run, appreciate his stance on many things, but will STILL vote Kerry in November.

For stats purposes, this specifically includes 13 organizations (press, environmental, animal rights, human rights, etc) and roughly 65 folks that I've talked to.

26. The Reason He Got On the Ballot
On the Majority Report it was said that the head of the election put him on the ballot because the hurricane had a chance of hitting Tallahasse. In addition, the Nader Campaign is reporting that they only have $18.95 in the bank and they are going to make an issue of that. I guess they will claim that people should vote for them because they do not have a large amount of money which means they did not take money from special interest and therefore they will listen to the people instead of the big corporations.

27. Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Hey, vote for me - I only have $15!
Can you smell dirty trick? Diebold works better with a crowded ballot. Thay can't say 90% voted for W, but they can "create" a 10% for Nader.
After all, only an idiot thinks he acrually got over 90,000 votes in 2000 (the Green Party in Fla had some 4000 members)
