You know what the best path for Log Cabin Repubs would be...
... beside voting for Kerry. To go all out campaigning for Bush.

I don't mean wearing suits and being presentable like they usually are on the news. They should go out and campaign in the most flaming way as possible. They should get on TV lisping and dressing like mister slave on South Park with another man in a leather mask on a chain. They should play into all the worst stereotypes of gays and lesbians and make it known that they support Bush because he loves gays.

They should make ads about how they support Bush because "he is fighting for their rights to have uncommitted sex, and because he is so cute." Then at the end they should put the line "George Bush the 'gays' choice." These ads should be placed in the Bible belt and every swing state.

This would either disgust the fundie voters enough that they would demand Bush take a harder position against gays, making him unpalatable to swing voters, or they just wouldn't turn out for him.

C'mon Log Cabin Repubs, let's gay it up!

2. ummm
I think this part is a little unsavory: "...This would either disgust the fundie voters enough that they would demand Bush take a harder position against gays..."

I hardly think we need to bring further fundie hatred down upon ourselves. I also know a lot of very masculine gay men who would be a little offended at being asked to queen it up down in Dixie. Are you going to be there with them when they're jumped by the crowds and gay-bashed while they're out there 'flaming' and acted limp-wristed?

The LAST thing I'd do is play into a stereotype, period, anywhere.

3. They don't have to march with the idea
Just make as many TV appearances as possible. Hit as many people as possible.

4. ummm...
I see where you're going, and in a way - yeah, it's funny. But as a gay person, I get the same feeling as if you had asked a black person to show up down there, fetchin' and steppin' and jivin' in Dixie, pretending to love Bush to turn off the bigots.

5. I'm not asking all gays...

... just the LCR. The Repugs accepted their support in 2000 but have turned their backs on them in 2004 to catch the fundie vote. They have allowed surrogates to paint them as disgusting and unnatural beasts. All I am saying is that if that is the way the Repugs want to play it they might as well try to burn them with whatever they can.

The Xtian bigots already think that gays are an abomination in the eyes of god might as well play it up. As sexually insecure as the fundies are knowing that W* has the support of gays may turn enough of them off because of the challenge to their masculinity especially if he doesn't forcefully tell them to stop.

6. I agree with Neecie We Don't Need Gay Stereotypes
We need to encourage gays and lesbians to be themselves and support them in their quest for liberty and equality. That is a concept I think Neecie would agree with. We don't need straight men walking around being macho any more than we need gays and lesbians acting like the straight world's worst fantasies. What we need goes back to the old Sesame Street theme: free to be you and me.

8. Munchkin voice. "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."
Follow it to the end where Patrick and his pals can click their Ruby slippers and go that place where they are loved and accepted and still keep all the tax breaks for their friends.

The place where everything about being Gay and Republican makes sense; two Stars over and turn left at the next galaxy.
