If the GOP were smart (and we know, despite their evilness, they are brilliant at strategy), they'd have released these memos knowing full well they're fake just so they can discredit them and smear Kerry and the Dems further. The stupidity of whoever made these memos is far too great for it not to have been done on purpose. If you were forging a typed document from the 1960s, wouldn't you have thought enough to check what type of typewriter/computer they had back then?

I say the GOP released the memos just so they could discredit them.

But the heading on the document leaves something out.

The secretary didn't type it, but she says she had typed something similar, expressing the same thing for Killian, about Dubya.

therefore, someone in that National Guard office knew of that document, had seen it, and reconstructed it.

If that is indeed the case, it would do more than just be a smear campaign, it would be an attempt to end the Bush AWOL debate favorably with them.

Think 16 words. You reduce a very large batch of issues coming at you, get them to all coalesce in the media to one issue and then deal with it.

Bush lies became the 16 words in the state of the union. Then they debated this canard in front of the public, and then they tie it to british intelligence like they had always done. They found one lie that they knew they could deflect responsibility for and they used it to create the appearance that the claims that he lied were erroneus and then they could even use that fact to attack the left for something the left had never even done, in conservative circles.

I am not saying this is a plant, that has to be proven first, but this could be an attempt to kill the Bush AWOL debate by making it look like they have always tried to make it to look. Impossible to know. They want everyone in America to be under the impression that it is a claim that the left cannot prove. And since there are other non CBS related evidence breaking through to the media, this could be a stunt to get people to focus on one piece of evidence they know they can discredit.

Another possibility is that they didnt engineer this, they just looked at all the documents that came out and found the ones they could hope to question, and made that the big issue.

But still the most likely option is that Rove sees these documents as being very damaging and is going to try to push big ol pot of spin and lies on it until it becomes just another Sandy Berger. For a week conservatives will know that treason had been committed, until it all fizzles out after the damage is already done.

Either way, the focus is on getting at the truth. Unless of course someone on the left did do something wrong. Which is still possible. Then its a whole different story.

After Reagan, I dont think these criminals thought they would ever have to worry again. They come in with Bush 1, thier incumbent, slick campaign, but Bush was so unimpressive, and they lacked the Media control they have now, they had plenty, but not as much as now.

It enraged them, that is why they hated Clinton so much. They even tried to impeach him over nothing. They wanted the presidency back so badly. They spent 8 years under clinton just waiting to get revenge, and tightening control over the media, during the clinton attacks. 2000 comes, they propaganda until W. he can stay close to Gore, and they try to rig florida to take a close election. It works, they get in power, all hell brakes loose as they try to get back on top of everything they got interupted doing 8 years earlier, but this time instead of the cautious Daddy Bush, they had W. who is an extremely easily manipulated man. So the inmates are running the asylum and these inmates believe that they belong in charge superceding any ethics.
