Don`t jump to fast on this Bush thing not being true..........
First on Boortz and now on the radio show that follows Hannity, they are now telling the story that Bush, during his first years in the guard built up more than twice the amount of time for an honorable discharge. They both said that more than likly Bush knew that the war in Viet Nam was winding down and his aircraft that he flew was fazed out in Viet Nam, so he decided that he wasn`t going to fly and he would save the government money. That is why he didn`t take the physical. Both shows said that it was common for pilots to do this toward the end of their time.
I thought when I heard this, this morning, it was strange. Now I heard it on the Mark Levin Show and now know its a talking point from Rove. How many pilots have you heard of walking away from training after the government put millions of dollars in training them, just because you wanted to save the government money by not flying? What the hell is that all about? Sounds like it`s true to me.

Yeah right. :eyes:

Obviously this must be true. Who else but the chosen messenger of GAWD, our boy georgie, could possibly be so noble, so prescient, so just awesomely fabulous. Always thinking of others and the good of his country (not to mention the budget). Yeah that's our georgie.

2. And he was born of a virgin.
I fully expect Hannity and the other media wingnuts to proclaim him the Messiah soon. I wonder what's taking them so long?

6. Luv the Bush was following the VietNam draw down...
Right. I'm sure Bush woke up every day and ready every article on the Viet Nam war, and said, "Yep, no chance they'll be using me there so I might as well save the government some money by not flying".

If the RW cabal would just answer the following: If the shoe were on the other foot and Kerry's military record 68-74 matched Bush perfectly - would you be saying the same thing?

7. When you are on active duty, you are owned
body and soul by the military. Most people can't just walk away as bu$h did. It's call desertion and can get you hard time in a federal lock up and a dishonorable discharge..

Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 06:03 PM by chromotone
So he took it upon himself to "discharge" himself from the TANG?

Just like on 9/11 when told of attacks, Bush decided to "project a sense of calm" by doing nothing... He didn't even have to tell anyone that he decided to "project a sense of calm." Apparently, they all read his mind...

Bush Aide #1: "What's he doing? Doesn't he know we are under attack?"
Bush Aide #2: "Yes, I've just received some of the President's thoughts via telepathy informing us that he's now projecting a 'sense of calm'."
Bush Aide #1: "Wow! What a President!"

12. Do youknow anyone who is hardcore about flying?
I don't ask this as a setup, I mean really, really a flying nut. Like so nutty that they would sign up in the Armed Forces so they could fly(like bush* supposedly wanted to do)?

I do, and if they are genuinely "Air Heads", they don't just walk away 'cuz the war is winding down or their plane is being scrapped. It doesn't happen. This is straight up proof to me that bush lied about wanting to make a career in flying. I know, that's not exactly an earth-shaking realization, bush* lied (again!), but any sliver of hope just faded away if that's what they're saying.

I would like to hear someone ask bush* what about flying interested him. If he doesn't go off into some sort of wild, passion-driven rant about flying, that's all I'll need to know.

15. Can't do that
It is not or at least it was not at the time allowed to accrue hours in anticipation of leaving. You had to fulfill your hours according to the time table laid out by the Service. I mena that might be like a soldier in Iraq saying if I stay up all night and fulfill my time can I go home now? I read somewhere that you were not allowed to build up hours. Of course the way Bush thinks he gets to make new rules up as he goes along.

18. Thinking about this more
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 06:17 PM by kayell
Yes, in between bouts of hysterical laughter it finally came to me. This is GREAT. They aren't disputing of the facts of the memos and other TANG revelations here. They can't because it is all true, and they know it is coming out. There only choice is to try and convince people that little georgie did everything in a noble cause, because he always knew what would be best for the TANG, the military budget, and this country.

This is just ultimate spin. Such intense spin that it is making me motion sick here 550 miles from DC, but all just spin, spin, spin. This should just encourage us all tremendously. I smell toast burning.

19. I was in the Guard in the 60's to 70's and
nobody and I mean nobody got out early. If you moved you had
60 days to find another unit, if not you were expected to show
up for normal drills. BTW, you also had to attend annual 15
days training for 5 of the six years enlisted. That was a
requirement for honorable discharge. My conclusion, Bush
skated into the Guard and then skated out.Greetings DUers!

26. Hey now
Thanks everyone,I am a longtime lurker-first time poster. This is one subject I am an expert on. The media has focused on the drills * missed but have neglected the annual training which was a HUGE part of NGs traing requirements. * should have been activated on that issue alone. Take a look at *'s history, he has skated his entire life, and still is thanks to the media.
