1. I'm in the Glens Falls area
PM me with details if you like. And please add a space after the colon on "Hijacking Catastrophe". The smiley is a little disturbing. ;-)

9. nuxvomica pointed out your thread to me
I'm interested, as well. He says that you live close by. Sounds like a great lineup of movies! I've seen "Outfoxed," but wouldn't mind seeing it again and would just love to discuss it with somebody. I will also tell some friends of mine about this, both on and off DU.:-)

And welcome to DU, noexcuseforgeorge! It's great to have you with us!:hi:

10. Welcome
You can email me and we can get together to talk and plot (tee hee) anytime. I'm hoping we will have a real good turn out this Friday. Maybe we'll host movie nights more often or have double headers. There are so many and so little time.

11. Great! I'll do that!
I know one other person on DU who also lives nearby, so sent her your thread. I also have a few friends, including one who is also on DU, who also live fairly close and would be interested, if they are free. nuxvomica told me when you are planning this and it's good for me.:-)

You are very right in that there's so little time, but we will all be preaching to the choir. I'd give anything if I could get my mother to sit through "Outfoxed," since she has FOX News on constantly and believes this tripe. If only we could reach these people, we might accomplish something. But commiserating is also good. There are so few of us, around here, that we need to stick together.:kick:

12. yeah well
Rhiannon, I agree. I feel that if a person See's Outfoxed and becomes aware of the opinion forming tactics Fox is using on folks they will begin to notice when the term "some people say" is used. This will lead to a more critical eye and open their minds to all the other whitewashing they have been exposed to. I think the film it is a great way to change the Fox effect. Wake folks out of their trance. If you can't get your mom to come to one of the movie nights perhaps you could borrow the DVD and play it at her house. Tell her you want to spend some quality time with her and watch a movie. But don't tell what the film is about beforehand. :-)

13. I've seen the film. I knew that FAUX News, as we call it around here,
was really bad, but it was worse than even I imagined and now I know the details. These people have an agenda and they just outright lie. I know that some people tune in, to monitor the opposition, but I just can't stomach it. Why waste my time listening to lies and slanderous remarks?:puke:

I heard Brian Williams, of NBC News, talking about the network coverage of the conventions. He said that a colleague had come up to him, while he was covering the Republican convention, asking him if he knew that SRT had beaten the networks in the ratings the previous night. Brian Williams said that he had no idea what this guy was talking about. The guy explained, State Run Television: FOX.
:scared:

As for my mother, LOL! You have no idea! If I suggested spending "some quality time" with her, she'd know that something was up. She and I have butted heads on this far too often. I make it a point never to discuss politics with her, but she knows how I feel and comes after me. She thinks that I am "stupid" because I don't watch the "news," like she does, meaning FOX. And, for example, she's suggested that I move to Iraq, since I "like them so much."

The only way that she'd ever sit through this film is if she was tied to a chair, and she'd dismiss it all as lies, anyway. That's what the RW does.:grr:

15. Unfortunately
I have the same problem with my mother. I have a younger brother perfect age for Iraq and he is an Eagle Scout. Lucky for him he was injured playing football and is disqualified for military service. I think that if that were not the case she would have a different opinion. Sad but true. She is sadly just fine with other peoples children dying in Iraq. I don't really speak with her anymore. I cannot tolerate the ignorance. Respect I give to all initially however, once it has been lost, it is lost. Looking forward to seeing you Friday.

18. I also have a brother
He's past the age for the draft, but, since he also supports Bush*, I think he should volunteer. However, they'd never take him. He signed up with the Air Force when he was in his 20s, which totally boggled my mind, since he didn't need to, but he couldn't even make it through Basic. Too many people support this war who are not willing to commit any of their loved ones. Michael Moore proved this in "Fahrenheit 9/11."

I also hope to see you on Friday and am kicking your post.:kick:

including the photo of my little dog. I'm going to kick your post one last time so, hopefully, the morning crowd will see it. My excuse, this time, is to post a photo of my two dogs, together, Meneken and Sheena. He loved her so much, but we lost her, despite fighting the good fight.;(
