Just learned that the Ethics Committee has finally scheduled their meeting to consider the DeLay complaint -- meeting is TOMORROW, Thursday 9/30 --

please light up the phones and demand a full investigation into:

Count 1 - soliciting a bribe from Westar in exchange for legislation favorable to the energy company
Count 2 - laundering $190K in PAC money thru the RNC then illegally distributing it to TX candidates
and
Count 3 - using Federal resources to track down the TX dems who fled the state in an attempt to thwart quorum for DeLay's redistricting plan

on the phone, flood them with phone calls, faxes and e-mails. DeLay was reprimanded once before by the ethics committee. Heard that one last night in interview on NPR with the author of "Hammered", Lou Dubose.

If there is any justice, then the Ethics Committee needs to throw the book at Delay. Since four of the five GOP members are recipients of cash from Delay, I doubt that this will happen.

and with what happened yesterday in the hearing, quite possibly that if they get enough phone calls, faxes they will pay attention and do something.

In last night's interview with author of Hammered on NPR, Dubose talked about the passage of the Presciption bill in the wee hours of the am after the vote had been held open for 3+ hours (unprecedented) and everything that had transpired leading up to the bill making it to the floor to be voted upon. He mentioned there were several Republicans that had been strong armed into letting it make it out of committee and planned on voting against once it made it to the vote. That is why the vote was held open for 3 hours. At the 15 minute mark, then 20 and 30 minute mark, the bill had failed to pass. It took DeLay 3 hours to whip the Repugs into shape and do as he demanded.

Make the calls, you'll be glad you did!

This is what happens when you put a guy who ran an insect extermination business in a position of great political power.

NPR's Fresh Air last night had a good interview with a person who wrote a new book about Tom Delay. He explained that Tom Delay was running an insect extermination business in Houston, after working on oil drilling in Venezeula. He became involved in politics mainly because he was so angry that the EPA had banned his favorite insecticide. (It was banned because it was a bio-accumulative hazard.)

Delay was then elected to the Texas Legislature and had only a single issue - getting rid of government regulations. He was a party animal at the time, and was known for the large hot tub he had in his apartment for big parties.

What else do you expect from a guy who uses a supposed charity for needy children as a front for top-secret political fundraising.

Just heard a little of Pelosi's Press conference, did anyone else catch it?

Interestingly enough, each staff member answering the phone in republican offices were friendly, took my message asking them to set aside their partisan politics and do the right thing and then thanked me for calling.

Please make the calls. Now! The more calls they get the more influence we can have!
