Just went down to the Iraqi-immigrant owned convenience store...

couple of blocks from my home.
This little store is run by an extended family of Iraqis who fled from Saddam and hated, hated him passionately, and still do. The patriarch and grandfather has a special reason to hate Saddam. He lost a foot in a Saddam prison. I've never had the heart to ask exactly how it happened.
When the war began they had some enthusiasm for it because it meant that Saddam would be gone.
Their attitudes have slowly but surely changed.
Tonight a nephew was starting to close up.
"What did you think?" I asked.
"John Kerry is going to win," he said.
We agreed on that.
He lit into Bush, in broken but eloquent English.
"Why he is going into Iraq when the guys he wants are in Afghanistan? He can get them there! Bush lets them get away!
and
"Why he is spending $200 billion on war in Iraq? Now he has more terrorists than ever!"
I really feel for this family. I can't wait to see how the others feel but I think it will be the same.
"Bush does not deserve to be elected." the guy concluded.
