1. Cheney is a strong debater
but I think he'll come off seeming evil and heartless. I think that if Cheney sticks to the party line, Edwards can trap him on Iraq and WMD's.

3. I think
Cheney will get mad at Edwards and Edwards will look very Clintonesque. A little smug, but very self-assured. Let's not ever forget...Cheney is not an idiot, but Edwards is a strong debater.

4. Because
People have seen what they have already done they are not able to portray a moderate conservative stance anymore there for all there issues and plans are far far right, far far right can never debate if they have already been proven to be so, they are gonna lose all 3 debates only the rich, warmongers can identify with far far right.

5. Edwards will kick his ass
no doubt about that-Edwards will expose Dicky`s evil for everyone to see. Edwards has faced these kinds of pricks in the courtroom and been pretty succesfull...

6. Cheney simply cannot be happy.
His snarling sneer, his constant negativity and threats, his inability to relate to the common person - all will be polar opposites to Edwards. If Evil Dick weren't so damn evil, I would feel sorry for him in that debate.

9. Cheney can debate... Where image counts though, it's
Edwards...

Edwards wins by standing on the same stage and duking it out with the prince of darkness.

28. He might need to do a little ducking too
The old guy, Secret Dick could smell a whiff of the coffee and start flinging the some infamous words on how to perform solo coitus while using that not ready for prime time verbiage.

Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 08:34 AM by suegeo
I'll wonder to myself: Is Dick Cheney more like Darth Vadar or Joe Stalin? Does he use the blood of blonde children in his bread?

When Dick Cheney is cut, does Dick Cheney bleed oil?

Then, I won't be able to watch anymore, I'll say "Dick Cheney, ick" and shut off the t.v.

14. Cheney is the greatest debater the world has ever known!
Dick Cheney has never lost a debate. Never once. He is a brilliant debater who mops the floor with his opponents. In fact, a lot of Dick Cheney's previous debate opponents have simply conceded the race after their debates.

I can't remember what John Edwards did before he was a senator. I doubt it had anything to do with public speaking or persuading people.

It's going to be a horrible experience for Democrats. We should try to cancel the VP debates now while we still have the chance.

15. it matters very little
If VP debates had significant importance on how people vote for president, then we'd see a slew of books on how the post-Reagan economy was saved by the Dukakis administration. Might get a couple of guys competing for the Lloyd Bentsen Memorial Soundbite of the Evening Award, but the real show picks up again a week from tonight.

18. Cheney will be far more articulate than *, but
Edwards will do more than hold his own, and his upbeat demeanor will win over far more undecideds than Cheney's blustery one.

Last night on NBC he looked very tired.

A few good nights of sleep and he'll be fine. I mean, geez, it's like Beauty vs. the Beast...

21. Mr. Sunshine Vs. The Gnome King?
I think it's going to be a hoot! Cheney may score a few points, assuming his Baron Scarpia-esque subsonic rumblings make it into the range of audible hearing, but he ain't exactly going to wow 'em.

Edwards, on the other hand . . . well, let's just say there are reasons that he made lots of money as a trial lawyer.

25. I think people will see so many differences immediately.
Edwards is younger, fresher looking, enthusiastic, and honest. He is very experienced in oratory, in making his case, and it'll be quite evident. Cheney is an old, tired, nasty, cranky man. No amount of make-up is going to help him. If he smiles, his face will crumble and fall off - those muscles haven't been used in YEARS!

26. Off topic but..
I like your pregnancy counter. Are you expecting a baby? We've been thinking about getting pregnant maybe in April or May so that my son will be older by about 3 years.

On topic...
I think Edwards is going to look better in the eyes of the American people because the man has genuine compassion for the poor and working class people of this country. Cheney will like a jerk in comparison.

29. it will be fabulous
Edwards has so much southern charm and is so sincere. Then you have permanently scowled Cheney who looks so pissed off all of the time. Obviously Lynne hasn't been letting him wear the thigh high black boots lately.

30. Here's two cream puff, knockout punches for Edwards ...
#1 - Cheney brings up the "Trial Lawyer/Ambulance Chaser" topic
Edwards counters with the need for lawyers to bring companies like Halliburton to justice ... 400,000 asbestos claims against them ... KBR purchased while Cheney was CEO

#2 - Cheney tries to play the "We're stronger on national security" card
Edwards counters with: On Feb 15, 2001 the Hart-Rudmann Task Force delivered Phase 3 of their report on Homeland Security. The report was titled, "Roadmap for National Security: Imperative for Change". What did Cheney do with the report? Nothing! He was too involved with cutting backroom deals with his energy cronies to even open the report. Instead ... in stayed languishing until that fateful day ...

31. What is the format?
I think that will have a lot to do with who wins (not that I think VP debates are terribly important). If it's a more relaxed setting, I think Edwards' charm will make Cheney look like an ogre. If it is similar to last night, I figure Cheney will make it at least a tie, because he will come across as the more formidable.

It will be interesting, because both are good at these things.
