<A student pilot who routinely flew over an Ontario nuclear power plant and is suspected of Al Qaeda terrorist links was ordered to remain in custody today while two other men who were also under scrutiny are being released.
All three men are part of a group of 19 arrested Aug. 14 as part of a massive sweep called Project Thread.

Immigration and RCMP officials allege the men are linked to a sleeper terrorist cell, may have experimented with explosives and wanted to find out the measurements of prominent buildings in Canada, including the CN Tower.>

Adding some "domestic" pressure to get this over with...

Canada would say to the US..."Hey US, your shitcan is starting to overflow...and we dont like where its spilling!"

Unless you are referring to the new "mutated, blurred" Al Qaeda, which is defined by "anyone who opposes the bush regime or the PNAC doctrine" in which case let's hope not, since Canada is not big enough to hold that many people.

I doubt that someone who sees all of Western culture as evil and determined to destroy the peaceful Muslim fundmentalist way of life would recognize much difference between Canada and the USA. Canada is our largest (or second largest) trade partner and our closest military ally. We speak a common language (except Quebec) and share much in common in culture and religion.

What I really mean to say is it would be foolish for anyone in Canada to think they are immune to the insanity of international terrorism.

Some would, some would not. I think we SHOULD get all the way out and the sooner the better. Unfortunately our commitment to Israel and our thirst for oil make that all but impossible. But even if we physically got out our culture would still corrupt through the Internet and satellite TV, and that may be enough reason for some to keep trying to kill us all.

Right now there are Islamic separatist movements flaring up all over the world. There's a group based in Indonesia whose stated goal is an Islamic state encompassing much of SE Asia, Oceania, and even the Phillipines.

That's Bush's newest excuse...but it's simply not true.

Canada has more Muslims than Jews...and we are the US's BIGGEST trading partner.

There is no 'insanity' to international terrorism...they are doing it for a reason...not just for the helluvit ya know.

They have nothing against Canadians as such.

And Canada has had foreign fights spill over on to our soil since the early days and the Irish/English.

Canadians don't panic easily, unlike some.

19. Are Canadian troops helping us? If so, yes.
Also, in that article where Al-Qaeda said they caused the blackout, they mentioned Canada as an enemy, but I'm not sure how well that report holds up.

22. It is not beyond the realm of possibility...
but I don't see it as high on the list of their targets. It seems that the US and US interests are their focus and Canada doesn't fit in either of those.
