factcheck.com...
Someone may have already brought this up (Search function isn't working), but Cheney mentioned factcheck.com instead of factcheck.org. I wondered if maybe factcheck.com was a RW version of factcheck.org or something, but he just got it wrong...check it out:

1. Some one should buy the domain and post a bunch of B/C crap.

3. Lends credence to theory that factcheck.org is 'one of theirs'
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 10:42 PM by lostnfound
There was a thread here a long time ago about how one of the RWers had mentioned that factcheck.org was 'one of theirs'.

Yes, it seems impartial (?) today but I've wondered whether it would pull the rug out from under us closer to the election.

Trying to be a magnet for the undecided would have its advantages.

6. Sounds like this site agrees (factcheck.org) agrees with what
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 10:47 PM by lectrobyte
Mr. Smithers, I mean VP Cheney had to say. http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=261

Anway, I think this whole "no bid" deal stinks to high heaven, no matter if he is directly profiting or not... Anyone know more about this situation and can comment?

On Edit: Anyone know more about factcheck.org? Of their six headline articles, 4 are correcting Republican smears on Kerry, then there's the Halliburtion/Cheney article, and one more on "Bush and Kerry both have problems with the facts" about the presidential debate.

9. How, precisely, is January 2001 not after Cheney was elected VP?
Assuming, of course, that he was elected. The people voted in November, the electors voted in December. The votes were counted on January 6th. So you might be able to argue that the $147,000 awarded on January 2nd shouldn't count, but that doesn't really make a significant difference. Under ANY definition, January 18th was AFTER Cheney was "elected."

10. Good point. Like I said, this whole Halliburton deal just smells
bad. I have to think if you were the CEO, and then your company is making huge profits becuase of no bid gov't contracts, the fix was in. Think how this would have played a few years ago if Gore were in Cheney's place. He'd be in jail or something already.

11. this factcheck.com = georgesoros.com is completely fucking...
brand new.

Actually, I visit factcheck.org frequently and use it as a source of "unbiased" information (if there is such a thing).

Check my recent posts, I've been promoting it on DU whilst no one else
has (as far as I can tell). I think it is pretty fair and seems
to unveil alot more GOP than DNC lies. It debunks the sbvt lies pretty well.

After the debate, I checked factcheck.com and lo and behold, it was just a dead end address. Now, it really does redirect to georgesoros.com.

This happened between 10:55 pm and now. I guess money does really talk because the average person has to wait for a few days for a website url to get "published" in such a way.

I think Soros' move on this was pretty clever.

Bottom line though: check out factcheck.org - read it, it's got good information and is packaged as "non-partisan" which will help you battle freeps, Repub friends, and wayward family members.

P.S. Cheney is an evil bastard. It's not a wonder why 6 heart attacks can't kill him, he's possessed by the devil.
