How long before Bill O'Reilly turns up with a shaved head and swastikas spray-painted on his temples?

It's getting so that we should be prepared for the standard response. When Conason mentioned that Tweety had had Ann Coulter on her show eight times, Tweety doubted that she'd been on the show at all, and then the denial morphed into a denial that he'd had her on to talk about her book. At the end of the article, O'Reilly claims he's only ever told one person to shut up, and that was wholly justified.

Liberals and progressives who are asked onto these shows should be prepared for what I call the "astonishing" denial. That is, the denial of something that is patently true. Every talking point you could conceivably come up with should be scrupulously documented, so that when you mention casually (for example) Ann Coulter's bloodthirsty comments, you can cite her threats against liberals or the New York Times chapter and verse.
