Schwarzenegger for 2008
Apologies if already posted. Before the debate, when I was watching CNN, among the sea of signs behind Blitzer and Greenfield - mostly Kerry Edwards - I noticed a hand written one with the above message.

Watch the Nazi's run your town...........you think we are talking about someone else.

2. Wouldn't it take a 2/3 majority in Congress to amend the constitution
so he could run? It seems far fetched if so.

3. 2/3 of Congress and 2/3 of the states
And you can bet that if it will ever come to that, it will be the "blue" state that will approve such and amendment and the bigoted "red" that will reject it.

So, yes, it will never come to pass but I thought it was funny.

16. no way 2/3 of Congress would approve that
90% of them harbor dreams of being president some day... so, why would they vote for something that drops 80% of them down the priority list?

7. He won't be "golden" forever.
That "economic girlie men" comment went over really well with out-of-work families who are struggling to put food on the table.

Trust me. He'll screw it up. He built the little empire, his own words and actions will tear it down.

When Bush goes down, all of the barnacles attached to his hull will go down with him. Arnold should have stuck with his original plan: don't get involved. I don't care if, at some point in the future, he parts the Red Sea and feeds 5000 with one loaf and a fish...I wrote the prick off when he gave his RNC speech.

17. RE: by what stretch of anyone's imagination...
A couple of years ago, Gropenfuhrer announced that he had an interest in 2008. His idea had the support of Orrin Hatch.

If illegals are allowed to work nights at Wal-Mart, or as domestics for the repugs in their homes and country clubs, don't think for one second that they will have a problem with Ah-nuld being Prez.

13. waaaait, a sec. We'll have 300,000,000 citizens in the US
by 2008. The vast majority are born here, so, we need to fuck with the constitution to allow AhNold to run?

This is revisionist shit from Reaganites. They see a GOP actor. They see a California Gov. They want to repeat the magic, from their point of view.

To hell with this whole process. this is just insane.

14. i heard one pundit describe it this way
If this effort is seen as being done for Arnold then it would fail.

If it is seen as being done for some larger (more generic) reason, then it might pass.

I cannot see it happening in time for 2008.

15. Naah. Jeb will be the next Emperor
Ahnold in 2016, when 16 years of Imerial Family Rule will have even the most TV-immersed Imperial Subject wondering how much "Freedom" (which the TV will blare every day, by that time only in a little less subtle fashion than the book '1984') means when it's the same bunch every time.

They Imperial Family will need an Emperor without the last name of Bush. One egocentric enough and stupid enough to push around and get most of their way with. Like Raygun, who concealed the first 4-6 years of Poppy Augustus.

19. Jeb in 2008, only if Kerry wins
I've read some speculation that if - horror - we have 4 more years of this Bush, Jeb will sit out for at least one term so that it does not look like a real monarchy building.
