My Marine son just watched F9/11 on DVD in Japan.
He had seen the movie while stationed in California but bought his own copy of the DVD at the PX.

Funny story: He had been proud of himself that he shamed another Marine into voting, only to find out later that the Marine had voted for Bush. And when my son asked him why, he couldn't even give him a reason! Anyway, the other Marine watched F9/11 with my son a little while ago and the guy totally changed his mind about supporting Bush. And the good news is, there was some problem with his absentee vote and that vote for Bush isn't going to count! The Marine was so relieved that his vote wasn't going to count after he saw the movie!

When my son went to work (he works in the computer shop,) other Marines were talking about having watched the movie and the mood was decidedly negative toward Bush and support for the war.

The tide is turning, y'all!

1. I only hope our brave men & women see his face for the coward
he was on 9/11 and moreso today, in my opinion.

4. He said one of the sergeants was defending Bush for sitting there,
saying none of us knows how we would react in such a situation. Another sergeant answered that he sure as hell knows what HE would do and it wouldn't be sitting there on his ass -- that he wouldn't have gone into the classroom in the first place knowing about the first plane hitting the tower.

It's amazing to me but what's in that movie is NEWS to most of the people who are seeing it for the first time -- and it sounds like they are believing it! Good for them!

EXCELLENT point!
Seeing as Bush was forewarned of this exact type of attack, there is no contending that he "thought it was a really bad pilot" in a jet airliner. GUILTY,GUILTY,GUILTY!

16. It's news even for those who are
fairly well informed. My ex-jarhead brother had long ago turned anti-Shrub, but he didn't know 3/4ths of what was in F9/11. And he is fairly informed and aware, watches the news (yes, I know), and reads the news on the net. If it was news to someone like him, it must be devastating to those whose eyes were really shut.

Good luck to your son. I hope he gets home safe and sound- and very soon.

17. Thank you. It's hard having him gone for so long but I'd rather he
be relatively safe for the next two years than be in harm's way for a seven- month deployment to Iraq.

5. Thank you! We're very fortunate that my son is not currently in harm's
way, though he's very close to Korea and will be going there for training exercises next year. It certainly doesn't help to hear statements from North Korea that Japan will be a "sea of fire" and they will attack U.S. military bases in Japan first if provoked. But this Resident would rather provoke than discuss.

3. Bush has abused our military by sending them to this unnecessary war.
If Bush had concentrated on Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, our military would not have be so severely stretched-the army, almost to the breaking point. Bush has created more terrorists by going to war ibn Iraq.

6. My son had been considering joining the reserves when his four
years are up but he said if Bush is elected, he won't do it because he's sure he'll be activated and sent to another war. His one year anniversary in the Marines is today and he's was feeling pretty down. He said he joined the Marines at the worst possible time and he regrets it. We tried to dissuade him but he was 19 and it was his decision. We completely support him, of course, and he was fortunate enough to get a job in computers so it can be good for him personally, but he's having a hard time dealing with it as a patriot.

14. I think many patriotic young men joined up after 9/11. Bush has betrayed
these young men (and women) with his war in Iraq--"taking his eye off the ball"--instead of focusing on tracking down bin Laden and destroying Al Qaeda--as John Kerry has reminded the American people.

7. Don't all military absentee ballots go to the Pentagon?
Don't think for a minute that any vote for Kerry will be counted. Rummy ain't gonna let that happen. There's a REASON that, for the first time in our history, all military absentee ballots are to be sent to the Pentagon and it isn't to help John Kerry. :grr:

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I read this Military absentee ballot/Pentagon thing on DU. I hope it's not true. :(

10. No
There's a dumbass program offered by the military where soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan can email their votes to the Pentagon, to be forwarded to the respective states, but few states have agreed to allow this. I doubt many eligible soldiers will use it either -- who wants the tightass Republican brass to know that you voted for the wrong guy?

11. Thank G-d!
That's a relief! The chimp isn't getting the military vote this year, if Michael Moore's new book is any indication of how they feel about the chimp. Thanks! I feel better now. :hi:

13. FWIW
The military has been doing a full-bore GOTV campaign overseas this year. It's been like nothing I've ever seen, with an endless drumbeat of vote-vote-vote on television, messages, memos, voting assistance programs...

I hope you and Moore are right. There could be a record number of military ballots flooding in this time, and it might wind up biting GeeDub on the ass.

12. My daughter, who usually doesn't discuss politics with me
when she called from Afganhistan (Army), part of the conversation went like this; "Mama, did you watch the debates?" "Well yes honey, I did." "Mama, bush is an idiot." "Yes, honey I know"--See I'm trying to tread carefully, she told me once that she was "a victim of politics and I don't want to hear about it" Well we talked a bit, and I said what I usually tell people, that I cannot, CANNOT believe that man holds the highest office in our country. She said "Well, that's because the people in Florida can't count" Whew!! I could have started dancing right there! She assures me she is not the only soldier that feels that way. The debates did NOT do geogie porgie any good with our military. Blessings to your soldier, and may many more see the light
