Anyone have HUGE .tmp files appear on their harddrive (like, 40GB)?
I'm getting HUGE .tmp files growing on my harddrive whenever I check my e-mail and have McAfee's E-mail Virus Scan module running. I cannot delete these while this module is running, and they continually increase until they fill up my hard drive (in minutes!).

They even continue to grow after I unplug my cable modem. I thought someone might be sneaking in a backdoor provided through this virus scan software. Either it's some glitch with McAfee's software or someone is using it maliciously and filling up my harddrive with their junk.

I can shut down the McAfee E-mail scan module (McVSEscn.exe), and that allows me to delete the large .tmp files. They seem to be mostly empty, large, fragmented files. But this is only a temprary fix.

Anyone ever run across this??

1. No, it's those files with the .DHS extensions that make me nervous.

2. Get ZoneAlarm -- it's free
tho there is a "Pro" version that costs.

I don't know what you've got, but I wouldn't mess around.

3. Turn off mcafee and go to the Norton
site and run their virus checker. Takes some time but some virus programs attack anti-virus programs.

5. Or you can go into our "Program" files and move inbox.dbx...
Mine is located under a directory called "plus!"... But you can move this file to a temp file, then delete the inbox.dbx file that is in your "program" directory. Then move your temp "inbox.dbx back to your same Program directory... :) convoluted, I know, but it has worked for me in the past...
