Poppy says Michael Moore is a "Total ass slimeball"
What dainty, holy language...

=====

Former president George HW Bush has attacked filmmaker Michael Moore for "lies about my family" in Fahrenheit 9/11.

Bush sat down for an interview with WCSH-TV (Portland, Maine) and didn't hold back when asked his opinion of Moore, one of the nation's best-known leftist activists. "I couldn't believe when I saw him sitting with Jimmy Carter at the Democratic Convention."

"Total ass, slimeball," Bush said.

It's "outrageous, his lies about my family."

Bush was interviewed last week and the interview aired tonight.

2. Wasn't Poppy an ambassador once?
He has such a charming way with words. What a credit to our country. That remark was about as repulsive as him puking in the Japanese PM's lap. At least they had a sense of humor about it and coined a phrase "bushusuru" meaning puking inappropriately in public. That's what I think of every time he opens his pie hole.

11. Well, actually...
it looks like he said Moore is a "total ass" (NB, "ass" as in "jackass", not "ass" as in "stupid American corruption of 'arse'") and a slimeball. Which, obviously, isn't much better, but isn't what you've construed, either.

BBC has picked this up now...

>>>Speaking to WCSH-TV in Maine, US, the former president said Moore was a "total ass, slimeball".<<<

What am I not construing properly? :) Thanks.

15. Note the comma.
"total ass" and "slimeball" are separate. Commas indicate pauses, which, in that sort of off-the-cuff spoken comment, means, generally, two different thoughts or phrases.

Not really much difference, there; ad hominem abusive is still ad hominem abusive.

21. OK I forgot a comma in the headline
Really, if you had seen the interview as I did, you would not misconstrue the venom which Bush used in assailing Moore. If anything, I don't think the post can properly convey ENOUGH the contempt in which he holds our side.

16. Yeah. How dare Moore FILM the Bushes cuddling up to the Saudis.
And all those lies about Jim Baker representing Saudi interests against the Bin Laden family. All those lies about Bandar "Bush", the lies about voters purged from the rolls erroneously in Florida. The lies about Donald Rumsfeld helping to arm Saddam during the Reagan era.

What a liar Moore must be. How in the world can someone who lies so much sleep at night?

Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 08:40 PM by HypnoToad
The only outright liar is Poppy and his 'family', which would be funny to laugh at except they're real.

Moore does bend the truth, but Poppy can look at his family album for the total liars. Sorry.

27. Poppy is showing HIS true colors
He's a nasty, wimpy, little man and a serial, lifelong liar whose CIA connections have buried BFEE questionable history. Kitty Kelley's book is an excellent, thoroughly researched, expose of the real GHW Bush.

Poppy, like his demon seed W, lacks substance, core and yes, even the ability to articulate his thoughts in a manner befitting the offices he's held. He knows only entitlement, and his whole life has been about amassing wealth and winning political power at all costs, by any means necessary.

He is as slimy as his son. Perhaps more so because he was thought to be genteel and classy. But as with all those Bush bastards, it's all a facade; a carefully, relentlessy crafted image. Pure bullshit. They are all horrible, and anyone who supports these thugs is willfully STUPID or thoughtlessly GREEDY.

Kudos to Michael Moore and Kitty Kelley!

33. I'm well into the Kelley book
Funny, but Poppy never felt he measured up to his daddy, Prescott. Junior can't even measure up to Poppy…and so on, down the line, if it continues.

Poppy decided to get into politics when he saw how his father stepped into a lavish lifestyle once he moved to DC as Senator. Doors that were closed opened miraculously, velvet ropes were lifted, and he was invited everywhere and treated with respect. Poppy decided he wanted that life for himself. In later years, he's tried to claim he wanted to give something back by way of public service.

35. It was Poppy
A modern-day peak seemed to arrive in 1992 when an angry Bruce Willis went on the campaign trail with President George Bush, and the two of them called Bill Clinton and Al Gore a couple of "bozos."
