Any business owners?
Just wondering if you displayed political signs at your store/business and what the reaction has been.

I passed a gas station the other day with a humongous BC sign, as well as an array of signs for every repub running here. It didn't strike me as great business move as it's a largely dem area and there's a gas station right next door with the same prices. I know where I'm never buying gas.

1. I've noticed
few businesses that had political signs. The exception was a B&B that had a huge BC sign. Can't help but wonder if they only book Republicans.

2. We don't have a sign
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 05:26 PM by Wubette
We do however carry a few Anti-Bush products. We get a few raised eye-brows from some folks but for the most part they are well received. I know my husband did get into a very heated discussion with one customer but he was able to deflect the anger by explaining that We were Capitalists just trying to Make a Buck. That shut the idiot up.

I think to some extent you don't want to shoot yourself in the foot here. I know I wouldn't enter a store with A Bush Sign-

3. I have a Kerry sign in my front window
and I get a lot of good comments about it. I also wear a Kerry pin and give away pins and bumper stickers to anyone that wants one.

I've only had one bad reaction. Guy comes in, says he almost didn't because of the sign - he just wanted to find out what I carried. I pointed him in the direction of the back room, and he said, on second thought, I don't want to give my money to a Kerry supporter.

Personally, I don't think he had any intention of shopping here - he was just trying to psych me out.

If you are a Bush supporter and are coming in to buy porn, well 4 more years of Bush and you might just not be able to buy it anywhere.

4. No signs at business.
I dislike it when business invoke politics or religion. My business' purpose is to earn money, provide services to our customers and provide a positive work environment for the employees.

We do talk politics and everyone knows where I stand, but I try not to shove it down people's throats.

7. This particular station invokes both the religion and the politics
They have the fish on their sign and a message board with various Bible verses and other religious sounding quotes. I have no problem with the Bible, but they don't seem to pick the sorta all encompassing ones about being nice to each, taking care of each other, etc. The general message I get is the superiority of Christianity. It's strange b/c it's really the only business that I've noticed with signs.

5. there is a small business in my town, lumber ironically
that had a huge Bush/Cheney sign up in from of their store. It was so big the guy made a frame sign out of 3 inch pvc pipe. I went by there last week and while i'm stopped at the light the sign is down but the frame remains, so i yell "What happened to your sign??" "It's keeping business away." yells the store owner back to me.

10. Running my small Biz from home
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 05:38 PM by sffreeways
my door is covered with Kerry signs. I won't patronize any biz advertizing for Bush.

I'm glad they are letting me know who they are.

I recently canned a client for harrassing one of my employees with Bush propaganda. He had Fox news on the entire time she was there and kept trying to convince her to vote for Bush.

Bye Bye..wallow in your own filth republican !
