"and out comes Tom Ridge"....they blame Dean, Dems for lack of warnings.
This is so absolutely pathetic. It shows these guys are capable of anything. Read the article...read between the lines...I can see it all now...terrorists attack before election, but we could not warn you guys or Howard Dean would think we were politicizing.

http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-terror-threat-silence,0,775453.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines

SNIP..."WASHINGTON -- FBI, Justice Department and Homeland Security Department officials aren't talking much about the threat of a terrorist attack to disrupt the election in two weeks. It hasn't gone away; they're just wary of saying anything in public that could prompt Democrats to charge the administration is playing up a terror threat to frighten voters...."

SNIP.."In an interview with The Associated Press, Bush said Monday the government remains worried that terrorists want to disrupt the U.S. election as they did in Spain, where the ruling party was defeated after commuter train attacks in March killed 191 people. We have no specific threat information, otherwise we would have -- we would have let everybody know," Bush told the AP. "

SNIP..."I am concerned that every time something happens that's not good for President Bush, he plays this trump card, which is terrorism," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean said in August after warnings were issued for financial institutions in New York, New Jersey and Washington.

Although Kerry distanced himself from those comments -- "I haven't suggested that, and I won't suggest that," he said then -- a dire new warning from the FBI or Homeland Security Department would raise new political red flags among Democrats.

"They could accuse the administration of doing things for political reasons instead of security reasons," said Robert Shapiro, political science professor at Columbia University...." END SNIP

Darn those Democrats, they are playing politics with our nation's security. Republicans would never do that!

1. So wait, if there is a real threat
and they do not warn us about it because they are afraid of what Howard Dean might say, what does that make them?

Pathetic comes to mind.

2. Credibility is a problem, isn't it? Especially when you have NONE!
They DID NOT warn people before the terrorist attack, and have been running around playing "Chicken Little" for three years with NO attacks, so we don't believe them anymore. Their response?

Sulking, and a "fine, we WON'T tell you anymore!"

Good thing they care so much about everyone's health and well being instead of partisan politics!

4. Well, maybe if they hadn't timed previos warnings...
... to JK's polling numbers, they'd still have a shred of credibility left now, when it matters.

6. to quote shakespeare & paraphrase mark twain
"o what a tangled web we weave when first we tarry to deceive."
shakespeare.

paraphrasing twain: i make it a practice to always tell the truth. that way, it's easier to keep my stories straight.

7. Republicans always blame someone else
As if the Repbulicans have never politicized important matters that never should have been highly politicized these last 4 years. Ha!

The trust ran out long ago and there's no one who's more to blame than the Bush admin.

8. It's a little known fact
That Dean was in Crawford in August 2001, keeping Dubya and Condoleeza up all hours playing cards, sipping whiskey and telling ribald stories. That's why they never actually read the PDB entitled "Bin Laden determined to strike US". Damn that Howard Dean!

9. Yep, it is all his fault.
August 6, 2001....determined to strike "inside" the US. Remember the shrub clearing the brush...and looking so macho?

This is such a pathetic attempt at passing the buck.

10. "produced no evidence of an al-Qaida pre-election plot"
I just caught this statement....no evidence. Means nothing, but interesting.

"Law enforcement officials acknowledge these arrests and thousands of FBI interviews of Muslims and others around the country have produced no evidence of an al-Qaida pre-election plot or arrests of known terror operatives. They also point out that the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers went virtually undetected before pulling off their attack."

Doesn't stop them from preaching their fear.

11. What this story essentially says is -
since Howard Dean called them on their bullshit terror alerts, they've had to stop.

12. And if he goes away they can start up their warnings again.
Basically, that is what it says. That Dean and the Dems are lurking waiting to pounce. You are right. It is so doggoned nervy I could not believe I was reading it.

They accept responsibility for nothing, absolutely nothing.

Everyone loses in that situation.
