Shevardnadze Allows Americans to Cut off Half Country's Electricity

http://www.rosbaltnews.com/print/print?cn=63873

TBILISI, August 28. Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze supported the government's decision to switch off the electricity supply to 23 of the country's provinces yesterday. As a result the Energy Distributing Company of Georgia, which is managed by the US company P.A. Consulting, cut off the electricity supply to the 23 provinces. The president said 'the population must learn to pay for electricity' and cutting off the electricity supply 'is the only way for the country to exist and develop.'

-snip-

As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the Georgian government, Mr Shevardnadze decided to support the move after a meeting between US Ambassador to Georgia Richard Miles and Georgian State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze on August 26. The ambassador encouraged the Georgian government to support the measures taken by the American company. Some members of the government believe that Mr Shevardnadze should not have listened to the Americans in view of the upcoming elections and the fact that this latest energy crisis could reduce even further the number of government supporters in the regions. There do not seem to be many supporters as it is.

Tell me our blackout wasn't on purpose and meant as a threat. It worked so good London tried it and now the country of Georgia. Who is next?

1. OMG! So this is how Americans do it!
Uh ...... if that isn't just absolute fucking PROOF that our blackouts were all deliberate, I don't know what is.

They could also tell him "It not only works, we totally get away with it!"

2. Who's next? The US is next
every time Bush hears someone criticize him...
he turns off the power!
When ever he fails to get his way... off with the power!

Just another one of those little things George will regret.

4. He is doing his part to help quash anti-American sentiment

Besides, if he doesn't do as he's told, he'll have to be airlifted to Crawford and share a room with Saddam and Osama, who leave pistaschio shells all over the place...
