Today, I had to get my blood drawn for a test connected with my
diabetes.The lady at the lab was Tibetan and she had a poster pasted on the wall that said: Rid your mind of hate, be active in assisting others, put their needs ahead of your own. Live simply, reduce your wants, attend to the needs of others, rid yourself of ego.

That way lies happiness.

I was so struck by this I asked for a copy of this and brought home to my children ranging in age from 21 to 10.Some of them appreciated it but others groaned about Dad trying to brainwash them.

I guess when you are brought up on a daily diet of consumption of goods as your focus, things like this create a dissonance even in young minds.

1. Most Americans could stand to lose some ego...
...but I'm not comfortable with finding happiness through the elimination of my own ego, given that I can find happiness in other ways.

...the essence of the religion George claims to espouse, too. How sad that so few can comprehend the genius of the message and what it would mean to the world, if followed by many.
