Because of all the shennanigans going on, I thought it'd be good to post some rules we think are wise to follow, which if followed, would help avoid being snookered:
1. Don't tell people who you are voting for! Even on the phone! 2. Don't register with anyone other than a governmental agency (which can now be conveniently done online in many places)! Don't be fooled by official looking badges on people walking around in the public for the purpose of "helping" people register; government workers don't do that. 3. Don't vote anywhere except at an official polling place! 4. Keep your registration card in your wallet at all times! 5. Verify with a public source where your precinct voting place is before you go vote! (often printed in newspaper day before election; often online under your county's website - follow the links). 6. Ignore people who tell you the voting place has changed (unless you can verify that with a public source)! 7. Don't let strange looking people walking around the voting place intimidate you! (There are people who dress to look like officials who will hassle you, but they are private individuals hanging around just for the purpose of intimidating certain types of voters.) 8. Go vote early! If you've already voted, your vote can't be stolen.
Any others you can think of?
