What is wrong with the right side of Nader's face?
(our right, his left)

I saw a newsclip of him in which he blinked and only the left eye moved! It actually doesn't seem like the right side moves.

So many rightwingers and rightwing enablers have faces that are different on each side that I can't help but think that it means something.

What is up with Ralph's face?

2. Supposedly, he's had Bell's Palsy.
It's a nerve disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve -- the main nerve to the side of your face. Some people recover fully from Bell's, some don't -- if Ralph had that, which is what I've seen as an explanation, it looks like he never fully recovered from it.

3. He had Bell's Palsy a while back
It usually goes away completely, but in his case, it did not completely go away ..

17. I SRT he got it from falling asleep w/his face against an airplane window
In the late 80s I saw him on the McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour and half his face was totally paralyzed. He had to wear shaded eyeglasses and he looked like he'd had a stroke. I wonder if that's what caused the mental dysfunction that caused him to become a preening egomaniac.

4. Thanks for the info.
Perhaps being unbalanced mentally leads to being unbalanced facially in various ways.

10. Now I'll know who to thank for four more years of Bush.
I guess the first four wasn't bad enough. Screw the unemployed families and womens rights. Screw the innocent Iraqis who will soon be slaughtered. Hey, At least you voted your conscience, or whatever that is that you hold up to be so precious.

11. I've been a devoted Nader fan for thirty years, but
have lost all respect for him now. Anyone who abets this admininstration in their quest for another term is a traitor. He's accepted funds from the friggen swiftboat liars and the NRA. There's a huge disconnect between his speeches and his actions. He's become unsafe at any speed.

12. Actually, my intention wasn't bashing.
It was more along the lines of wondering about Manchurian Candidate-type operations on Nader and other people who SHOULD be on our side.

15. Apparantly, Mr. Bunter
A true Democrat is someone who campaigns against the Democratic party, and who votes against its candidates....

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

14. Aren't some of you people a bit too harsh?
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 04:52 PM by Selatius
You guys would rail Ardee because she voted for what she believed was right? What happened to respect for other people's decisions? I am not deciding who to vote for just yet, and I can do that because I live in a heavily conservative state: Mississippi.

The reason why I have not decided is simply because I'm upset about the leadership of the Democratic Party and its sellout of the American people during the 1990s. NAFTA, the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the Bush tax cuts, and some others are all issues the Democratic leadership has run away and ditched us on. You know, that $120 billion dollar tax cut giveaway to corporations that was just signed didn't pass the Senate without the help of Democrats. The corporatists on both sides came out on that one.

I oppose the corporatists in the government because I don't want to deal with another government like Nazi Germany's on my own soil, and there are Democrats who are corporatist at heart. Anyone who would put power, profits, and control ahead of human beings is someone to be opposed. Bush needs to be opposed, but when are we going to stand up and oppose closet corporatists in the Democratic Party?

Ah, then we get into the issue of federal election laws and the Electoral College and how it effectively acts as a buffer to keep out third parties. If the Democratic Party really stood up for people's freedom of speech, then they would have fought decades ago to abolish the College and change federal laws to more easily allow dissent into the system, but the leadership either cannot or will not address the issue.

The only reason why people on this board end up in flame wars against each other is because the system, the College and federal election laws, make us fight.

(Edit: For the record I'm not going to vote for Nader, since he isn't even representing any third parties except himself. Voting Nader won't help third parties in this country anymore than it would be if it was a vote for Bush.)
