I have always noticed people have paid attention to Rev. Moon. I don't think though, that he is the source for the Neo-Con threat to Democracy. Think of Moon as advanced fodder.
Stupid people - They look at the media, and see Michael Jackson or who Jennifer Lopez is marrying/divorcing this week, and they say "This is important".
Smart people - They look at the media, and see Michael Jackson or who Jennifer Lopez is marrying/divorcing this week, and they say "This is stupid". They then go on the Internet and see Rev. Moon's connections to the Right, and they say "This is important"
Smart people (who get it) - They look at the media, and see Michael Jackson or who Jennifer Lopez is marrying/divorcing this week, and they say "This is stupid". They then go on the Internet and see Rev. Moon's connections to the Right, and they say "Hmmm, I don't know".
Moon himself is a loon and who has spent time in jail, and oh yeah, he claims he is the Messiah.
Don't you think that is just a tad bit too controversial?
I've got a feeling that certain elements of the Neo-Conservative movement are associating themselves with Moon so the Smart people (who just don't get it yet) don't see the Neo-Conservatives as terrorist, death squad, and third-world dicator assisting fiends and instead they are viewed as just loons who are not dangerous in any way.
So, to sum it up, Rev. Moon is the 'Michael Jackson' for people who are too smart for the media.
