Who howled the National Anthem tonight?
Nobody, including the 3 tenors, could make it sound good. It sounds nice when played by an orchestra as it once was.

I recommend having it different breeds of dogs perform it instead a steady stream of failing human voices. A bassett or a hunting dog could do it much better.

This is just me, so don't get bent over it. I just think that it gets silly to have it and "America" sung everytime the sun or moon comes up. It's kind of like how the Episcopal church eucharizes people to death. Too much cheapens the vintage.

4. Good points , God Bless America can't hold a candle to
America the Beautiful.. but this has been a showcase for strutting peacocks. When that chick lipsynched God Bless America, at Fenway
(?) I almost hurled.

6. The Boss
Springsteen did a version at the Vote For Change concert that was smashing.

Better than Hendrix, if I may be so bold.

5. I have to agree, Zorbet.
When she went for 'land of the free' I screamed -- she was so incredibly flat! GRRR. If you're going to hire someone who's going to sing that ridiculous tune (sorry, I'm one of those atavists who'd rather have 'America The Beautiful' or something, anything else -- I never liked 'Star Spangled Banner'), please at least make sure s/he can hit all the notes correctly, mm-kay?
